Has anyone installed the Progressive Industries EMS-HW50C in a Montana 374 fl or 375 fl ? Having problems on were to install it ? I know it goes somewhere between where you hookup the power at the back of the rig and the electrical panel inside by the stairs. The undercarriage is completely covered up, so I can't follow the power cable . Any suggestions or advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You need to find the breaker panel. It should be screwed in, and removing it will allow you to look behind it and determine if there is room for the unit. If you got the remote display, you just need to figure out where to cut a hole to mount it.

Go to the Montana Owner's Club forum - at least thirty or more have done that.

Typically there is a panel behind the breaker panels that can be removed. On many RVs the breaker panel is on a kitchen cabinet and there is a removable panel or cabinet door behind or along side it. The interior basement walls can also be removed if the panel backs up to them. The easiest place to mount the protector is behind the panel. You just disconnect the main wires that go to the panel, attach them to the surge protector and then make new, short jumpers to go from the surge protector to the panel. As mentioned before, you can always pull the breaker panel as well.

I recently installed one in our Montana. I was able to get a short piece of cable from Lowes, like what was used in our rig. The first photo shows the electric panel (120 volt/12 volt, and converter) removed from the wall and the unit wired to the panel.

I mounted the box on the exterior wall where the light is shining.

This is the panel back in the wall with the remote display installed.

The complete installation only took a couple hours.

Although mine is only a 30 amp unit, I did much the same, I cut the existing cable and mounted the EMS behind the breaker panel and hooked it up with the existing wire.
