Ladder for cleaning slide out tops

I know I can get up on the roof and sweep off the slide out tops. But if it is raining, don't think that is a good idea so would want to bring a ladder. The top of my slide outs are close to 11' off the ground. My 7' step ladder works when standing on the 2nd rung from the top. Just don't want to haul that big of an item. The 7' Stik ladders would be good for stowage, but says distance to the top step is like 59". I need around 69".

What say you?

Aside from toting an 8' step ladder, Little Giant, or extension ladder, a slide cover comes to mind. Much more expensive than a ladder but at least you wouldn't have to worry about sweeping the slide roof when its raining..

X2 - why we went with toppers.

I would go with a "tall" step ladder that can be attached to the rear ladder.

I use the folding 7'? ladder sold at CW. Great for carrying and sufficient for cleaning the slides. I do have to work from the rung next to the top but I'm comfortable on ladders. Shows you have an Alpine so your slide tops may be a little taller than mine which might make it too high. Slide toppers are an expensive answer to your situation, and one that some aren't too fond of, but may be the ultimate answer if you can't find a suitable ladder.

I purchased a 12 ft telescoping ladder that folds to less than 3 ft. Works great and I just put it in the back of the truck. It was less than $100. I bought it specifically to clean off the top of my slide out.

I keep one of these ladders at each of my houses for "stuff". They are handy as a pocket on a shirt and work great.....but, for an RV they are pretty heavy and awkward to me. I don't think you would have an issue with the telescoping ladder laid on the side of the slide if you padded the ends - plus lighter and a smaller footprint.

Same. Love it. I just leave it in the bed of my truck. Covered by Retrax. I just lean it up against the slide or side depending on terrain.

I just lean it up on the side. So far, no issues. I think mine is good for 225 pounds, but I am about 170. It is not that heavy and I have used it around the house too.

I'm gonna make a lightweight extension one with a right angle for our slide out's. One that attaches to my extension squeegee.

Amazon had a 12.5' telescoping ladder for $54. It'll fit in the front storage compartment of a fifth wheel and probably in the pass through storage on a travel trailer. Add a $2 pool noodle to put around the top rung that lays against the trailer/slide and it won't do any damage. Total cost about $56.

I do like that slide sweep, in fact I'm thinking, "Now why the heck didn't I think of that???" :cool:

Harbor Freight has those for $100. For a dedicated ladder, I'd be okay with it. Wish I had gone that route. I picked up a telescoping A-frame ladder.

Was $150 when I bought it. Now $125.

Not that I don't plan on having a ladder, fro waxing, but far better for keeping the top of slides clean, nothing beats a topper. They also keep the the slide roof cooler in the summer.

I see you went with white toppers. On our last RV they used black ones to match the rest of the hardware on the RV. On our Avalanche I went with the white toppers instead of the black ones. The installer was surprised that I went with white. I figured the white ones will be cooler in the summer too.

I am looking at a ladder too - provide access to the stove vent clips (9 feet off the ground), slide toppers to clear water and stuff off them when we are at a location for a long period of time and for window cleaning.

Got a pic of my telescoping A-frame... It has click-hinges that allow you to fold the ladder out from the A-frame configuration into a straight ladder configuration.

This is exactly what I've got. I paid a little more than that. Home Depot was closing them out. I want to say it was around $70 with tax. I'm happy with it.

I have a little giant type ladder that folds up to about 3 feet. Great to blow off the slides or wipe them with a towel if raining.
