Is it plywood or particle board? Is it 1/2" or 3/4"? I ordered a reel for the 50 amp power line and will be installing in a couple days. Giving it the best try without taking down the underbelly and bolting... at least that will be the 1st try.

John, I had the dealer install a manual MORryde cord reel in the pass through of the Laredo and they just screwed it to the floor. So far it is working. It has to be removed to remove the access panel to the pump and all the other goodies.

Thanks Frank. I do not think there is anything under the floor in that are that could be hurt if a screw penetrated a little. My thought now is removing it at least once annually for winterization will loosen the screw holes over a short time. I'm planning on a piece of plywood 2" larger on each side which I'll paint black. I'll put 4 bolts up from the bottom to attach the reel to with lock washers and wing nuts. Then screw the plywood to the floor in 6 places. That way removal will only require loosening the wing nuts. Hoping that will help save the flooring and make removal easier and without a screwdriver or drill.

I know there is PVC pipe and I'm pretty sure the black tank is under mine.. you might ought to look...

Probably the reason the screws provided are only 1/2". For that reason I'll use 1/2" plywood as a base attached with 1" screws ~~ 8 of them. With the carpet they should not penetrate. Thanks for the heads up ~~ not wanting to drop the underbelly and especially not wanting any leak or short. Hard to believe a 50 amp cable would not rattle 1/2" screws loose over time.

CaptJohn, any chance you might want to rethink the autoreel for your cable? Rolling it up when you leave a campsite is not much trouble and going through all that crapola to get into the pump area is nothing but grief. Plus the whole thing takes up a lot of space. One more thing to go wrong.

No chance until I give it a chance. It was delivered today. I'm 69 and broke my back in '68 making the 50 amp cable the only uncomfortable chore of tearing down the site. It will not go IN the pump area but inside the pass through. It will take up less space than putting it in the container that needs lifted in/out. If it does not work I'm out only $86 and will mount it at the S&B for a garden hose.

Mine is 1/2" (7/16") OSB

That is what I guessed as it is the least expensive option. Had hoped for 1/2" plywood or 3/4" OSB. Plan now is to use 1X4 screwed to the floor (8 screws ~ 7/16 + 1/16 carpet + 3/4 wood = 1 1/8" screws). Bolt UP through the 1 x 4 and attach reel with lock washer and wing nut. How long would the 1/2" screws provided hold during travel?

First, let me say that now I understand your need for the reel. Now, on to the "high-tech" end of the discussion. I would drill a 1/16 hole very gently through the floor and send a piece of stiff wire down to see how far I could screw anything in there before it hit something important. Also then you will know exactly how thick the flooring is.

I can understand that thought, that said, if you don't like the setup try SO 6/4 cable for your 50 amp cord.
This is my 40' cable with the 50 to 30 to 20 amp adapters all in a 3 gallon bucket. The hand is only for scale!

Installed today. Easy install and works so nicely! Wish I had done it long ago.
