I-10 eastbound at Baton Rouge. It was always a mess. I don't know what it is now. I was creeping at no more than 10mph for almost an hour. No signs, no troopers, no obvious reason. I won't do it again.
Be aware.

There was some major construction on 110 north on the east side, just over the big river bridge. That has been going on for about 3 years now. Could be that... Or, at the I 10/12 split, traffic backs up on I 10 west of the split if either road is congested, so if you were on I 10, you may never see a problem that caused the jam because it was on I 12.... Gotta love "red stick" traffic, especially after just travelling from Lafayette over the Atchafalaya Swamp roller coaster....

I've gone through Baton Rough twice on I10 - both times it was extremely terrible. The last time I just stopped, pulled off and found a hotel. I asked the girl at the desk what the deal was..."what is wrong with the highway infrastructure here that would cause all this?". She said ever since Katrina it's been a mess. Right or wrong I don't know. I do know that I've not been back through Baton Rouge since and don't plan to.

It picked back up after we got past the I10/110 junction. In all their wisdom they put all of I10 traffic down to one lane, then the right lane has to exit at Washington.
But we did eat at Prejeans. DW had the eggplant pirogue and I had catfish. Menu has changed and I didn't care for their dirty rice at all. We got cochon du lait pies to go for dinner. Pretty good pork and potato pot pie.
I guess next trip up we go through every small town in east Texas on hwy 59, or up LA165 through Alexandria to I20.
