Just upgraded to a larger 5th wheel with 50 amp service. I only have one account Unit on it. My question is, if there is only 30 amp service available, is it okay to run 30 amp through the coach (I have the appropriate adapters etc). My old old 5th wheel was 30 amp only, I still have the 30 amp surge protector, if I'm hooked up to 30 amp, is it safe to use the 30 amp surge protector?

It's my understanding that 50 amp just allows me to run a bunch of stuff at once, like maybe 2 actually units etc. Thanks in advance.

Short answers, yes and yes.

If you dog bone down to 30 amperage, youll be able to run all your appliances, just not at the same time (ie. 2 roof top a/c units or microwave, a/c, & water heater). 50 amps won't limit concurrent use of appliances as much.

Your 30 amp surge protecter will work with your trailer as you've already throttled down from the pole.

Yep, what Buster said^^^^. You have about 3600 watts available with 30 amp service. 50 amp will give about 12000 watts.

Another suggestion when operating a 50 amp rig off of a 30 amp outlet, is switch your water heater and fridge to gas only operation. You will still need to turn off an A/C to use your microwave to avoid tripping the breaker.
