View Full Version : Opinions on WDH setup with scaled weights

So I've upgraded my TV and WDH. I've set it up according to the instructions and feel I'm very close to having it dialed in. My trip to the scales after install (approximately 30 minutes each way) felt very good, with the exception of a small wiggle from a gravel truck and trailer passing me at a much higher rate of speed. Using the towing calculators on TowingPlanner.com and another website, it appears I'm very close. My TW is approximately 13% of the trailer weight. According to the numbers my steer axle is 20# lighter with the WDH active than it is with the TV alone. My question is should I make another adjustment to the hitch? Or is the 20# really worth the trouble? Would this adjustment actually make a big difference and possibly eliminate that small wiggle I felt? I have included a screenshot of the calculator's results and the information on my TV and Trailer. Thanks in advance.

At a glance you look good. Also, you will never get a hitch dialed in to the point you do not feel the push from a big truck passing you at speed. It's just physics. They are pushing a big wall of wind pressure when they come by and they will push and suck the vehicle. It happens all the time in my part of the country in just the truck. Looks like you're ready to hit the road:)

I'd agree with sourdough. The numbers look good. If you're happy with the handling, go out and enjoy it!

Thanks! Always good to get some second opinions! And as far as the gravel truck goes, he knew exactly what he was doing. He even rode the center line as he went by to maximize the effect. Lol
