So took the camper out for it's maiden voyage this past weekend. Everything seemed to go well, except for the fact it rained most of the time. However with much more room it went well. Kids played in their area and watched TV and movies, while the wife and I were able to relax up front and make meals with little interference.

I do have a question about the brakes. As this is our first real time taking it out I noticed a smell at one point when I had to get out of the truck to grab a snack from the camper. It was like a burning break smell. I wasn't sure if this was the pads setteling in or something else. I have the brake control set just into the orange (still a little green) I didn't think they were to tight. Any thoughts.

Thanks

It sounds to me like your brakes are dragging when you drive down the road. I always feel the the wheel hubs/rims when I stop.

Also, some drivers rest their foot lightly on the brake pedal when they drive. Even though there is not sufficient pressure to activate the vehicle brakes, there might be just enough pressure to activate the brake light circuit which would activate the trailer brake controller and engage the trailer brakes.

Last, but not least, the Brake shoes might not be properly adjusted.

You definitely need to check it out. Checking those hubs for heat is the correct "first step". They WILL get hot and stay hot. Last thing you need is a brake failure. Get a brake specialist to check it out. BRAKE smell is NOT NORMAL. Heated pads can glaze over and fail; just when you need them most. Remember Murphy's Law.
