Outlets in Passport 23rb

Just brought home our brand new Passport Elite 23rb on Monday and I've discovered something that really bothers me about it. The electrical outlets in the kitchen area are up under the cabinets (so they are not visible). While that may seem like a nice change, it actually creates a big problem. If I put my Keurig on the counter and want to plug it in, first of all, the cord isn't long enough to reach above to the outlet and, second, I'll have to unplug it after every use or I'll have a cord hanging down from the middle of underneath the cupboards. Same goes for my toaster, phone charging cords, etc. We have a couple ideas for making something else work, but I'm wondering if anyone else has come up with a solution to this problem and would like to share ideas here. Common problem anymore. They don't put wiring in the sidewalls in general, because of how they are made, so outlets and switches have to go someplace else. And...appliances anymore come with a too short cord for most normal purposes. My coffee pot "just" reaches if I put it right under the outlet. After I'm done with it I just unplug it and move it off to the side. I have charging stations in the living room and bedroom for my phone, but when I do plug into the outlet under the cabinet it just hangs there and doesn't bother me. Haven't really felt the need to do any modifications. Maybe a neatly run outlet strip from the outlet to the wall in the kitchen?

Thanks, Canesfan! I didn't realize that this was common in travel trailers now. Good to know. We did purchase a short extension cord with three outlets and are going to try to run it along the underside of the cabinet and down the wall to the counter, covering it with some of that cord tubing that sticks to the wall so that it looks a little nicer but I just thought maybe someone else had a better idea. I attached a 5 outlet plug strip to the back wall and ran the wire (attached to wall and cabinet) to the outlet. Try to find a plug strip with a right angle plug for a neater appearance.

I just wish they could have put a couple outlets on the ends of the lower cabinets (had that in our Antigua expandable and I guess I took it for granted).

I understand. I actually had...or have...an outlet on the end of the base cabinet underneath the countertop extension. Lol, I can't remember if it's in this rig or the last one. It's in an odd place to use it. But if you're a little handy and lucky you might be able to find a convenient 120VAC line and install your own.

Raptor , at least mine, has a duplex 110 VAC plug at the end of the lower cabinet. If your lower cabinet has room away from drawers and a near by plug should be an easy job

I shortened a heavy duty portable A/C cord to about 3 feet. We rarely have more than one appliance plugged in at the same time. When we do, one of them has a long enough cord to reach directly to the outlet.

I added a couple of extra outlets, that also have USB charging ports in them.

I also have a dual USB and single cigarette lighter outlet (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RJVJJCI) that I am planning on putting in the cabinet above the TV.

Nice job on the outlets. I may do the same as it seems we're always looking for an 110 outlet near the dinette.

Good Job !! General comment if you are installing these new plugs in locations near water I would try and daisy chain off a GFI plug near by. From past posts should not be an issue seems they like to put many daisy chained plugs off a single GFI regardless where the plugs are :facepalm:.

Our Premier has three outlets at or near our outdoor kitchen and about that many in the rest of the camper. My wife installed power strips at several locations throughout the camper. Wherever she installed strips, she used 3M Command Hooks to remove any tripping hazard associated with the power strips. The installation appearance is neat and cords stay our of the way.

Yep, for the one under the kitchen counter, I had the furnace area, under the fridge, open and tied on to the GFI string for the outdoor outlet.

The one by the dinette is not GFI (I don't think).

Both were really easy to install.

Had the same problem in my previous camper and now the Bullet. Its worse in the Bullet as the distance from the counter to cabinet bottom with the outlet is greater. The coffee maker cord just reaches, the toaster doesn't. I'm planning on a small power strip.
