Decal Material for Boo Boo

Anyone know where can I get some sheets of brownish decal material, about 24" x 24" to cut my own decal to hide some finished bodywork so I don't have to paint. Color doesn't have to be perfect match. Can't find any exterior luan either. I bought a small sheet of marker board at HD which looks the same as the rear cap material, it has press board instead of a luan backing.

Any decent sign shop should be able to help you with the Vinyl. Now, press board is not water proof and will swell and fall apart. Not sure at how you are going to attack the repairs, but, if you are willing to use some fiberglassing materials and imbed some luan for filler it may be a better choice. Smooth with body filler, prime and paint.

Contact the factory and see if they will sell you a repair panel.

I'm pretty sure with Keystone the dealer is the only one who can order from the factory. You can check, but don't be surprised.

Chuckster57 would be able to give more guidance with this one as far as ides of what you could use. Press board may be asking for problems. Avoiding them would be best.

I know the factory can send a new decal. I know they can send some exterior luan, but I don't know what the smallest size would be. Can't hurt to ask your dealer.

Any RV service center that does body work would probably already have scraps left over from another repair job. The luan and even the aluminum moldings are shipped in "full sheets". The FILON is shipped in rolls. So, even if a dealer needed to replace the entire rear section of a trailer, they would order the 96" wide FILON in a roll. If the back cap was, let's say 9'4" from top to bottom, they'd probably order either 10' or 12' of FILON from Keystone. That way, if a corner is chipped, or damaged while cutting, they would have enough to continue the repair. So, at the end of the repair, there's a 18" x 8' "strip" of FILON left over.....

So, if you check several RV dealerships, you'll probably find a 2'x2' section of FILON and a half sheet of exterior luan that someone has laying behind a tool box or in the parts room, just taking up space.

Don't assume that dealerships aren't "hoarders" just like the rest of us. They all have a gallon can of "extra bolts and screws", most have "half tubes of DICOR lap sealant". As an example, I bought a 20' roll of coroplast a couple of years ago from a dealership that had ordered it as a replacement on a trailer that needed some "basement work". Turned out they just reused the existing coroplast and this was taking up space. Total cost to me, $1 a foot. Cost to buy from Trekwood, $3 a foot and $250 shipping. It's sitting in the rafters in my pole barn, "just in case".....

Check around, you'll probably find "scraps" at a dealership that will work for all your repair parts. As for the decal, take an old piece of the siding with the decal on it to any "good sized" sign shop or printing shop. Most can duplicate the color on vinyl for you. Cost??? usually negotiable.....

Thanks for the info guys, found some siding at an RV body shop. Then got a new trim piece, corner seal, and caulk so I'm ready to go. I can get a 2x2 decal of the right color down the street. The front and back caps are 1/8 masonite with that 1/16th fiberglass exterior, super cheesy like the MINIMAL sealing of the trim too. My marker board looks as good as that stuff haha.

For sure. The Seal-Tite is a new product I had to order from the factory. I'm waiting on UPS from manufacturer Dicor. Today's progress: cut out boo boo, removed decal and adhesive. Had errands to run.

Had time to replace the filon/luan/fiberboard piece today. The Evercoat stuff is awesome adhesive/filler. You have about 5 minutes to work with it and it's strong after it sets up. Lathered up the sides, backside, and butted then together. Easy to sand. Outlined where the decal will be so I won't have to paint.

Thanks chuck. I'm cheap so I love saving a couple bucks when I can haha. I ended up finding a scrap 2' x 2' piece of siding from an RV body shop for 20 bucks like JRTJH suggested. First boo boo in 20 years of towing so I'm thankful I could fix it and it wasn't a major deal. It got my attention and I'll be driving even more careful now. By the way, RV body shops are FULL of RV boo boo's and are usually like 2 weeks out to even start a repair!
