View Full Version : Locked Inside 5er

DW read about folks getting locked inside their 5er by someone closing the grab bar across the door while they were inside. Most seemed to be pranks, although one reported being locked in while robbers cut the chain and stole the portable generator. I am not too worried about this, seems like it's probably pretty isolated, but DW is not so trusting. Trying to think of a way to secure the grab bar so it cannot be easily folded while at the campsite. Has anyone heard of this and have a solution?

Since you have 2 emergency exits (usually windows), I would think you could exit out of one of them and take action (if you so choose) against the perpetrator(s).

Yeah that locking handle works!!! Raining like crazy, better half helping at the dump station, truck running. Soaked wet I go into the Raptor to dry off. GUESS SHE THOUGHT I WENT SOMEWHERE and SHE LOCKED UP. Came out of bathroom to find door locked, handle across door. Dump station on outer edge of camp site. Pounderd on walls screamed out open window. Nobody around, she can not hear me. Finally seen someone coming to dump garbage wondering who the hel.. is screaming in the RV. He let me out, went up to the truck still running. She rolls down the window and says "Where the heck have you been :banghead: SAID NOTHING #!

There is a thread in the Forum News & Member Account Info section of the forum. Lots of good info that will help you decipher the abbreviations. You can find it here: http://www.keystoneforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=449

Steve, since Diane is worried about this happening, (not gonna happen) I simply don't believe you will ever get her to sleep in peace in the trailer. If
they couldn't secure y'all in the trailer with the handle they could use duct tape around the door and then tie a rope around the entire trailer......:D

Steve, since Diane ... If they couldn't secure y'all in the trailer with the handle they could use duct tape around the door and then tie a rope around the entire trailer......:D

Or they could use a tube of DICOR sealant around the door perimeter and really "shut the escape".... Whew, what a mess :hide:

Hmmmm....locked inside by door handle??

Well, I guess if I couldn't get it open or couldn't get outside I would use my cell. If someone was there for nefarious purposes that's what the .40 is for:D Also, I suppose one could use the panic button on the vehicle and wait for someone to come yelling at you:hide:

All true about duct tape, rope and DICOR, but she hasn't read about those yet. Mums the word ;)
