Has anyone successfully installed a receiver on the back of a toy hauler so they can install a bike rack in there ? I wanna haul bikes in the back not on the inside. Thanks

Make sure it is properly secured to the frame and not just the bumper. You should be ok then. If you get the right kind of rack you might be able to get away with leaving it in place (without bikes of course) when you open the ramp. I'm thinking of the ones that use trays for the wheels.

Not on a TH, but I have had one on the back of multiple 5ers. The main thing to look for is a very heavy duty rack. They do bounce around a bit back there. I went through a couple different racks before I found one that will handle the jarring without bending.

Look at the north shore racks.

Have you considered a pin box mount??

Another thought is a front receiver on your truck. We run a receiver on the back of the 5er for the kids bikes and one on the front of the truck for ours.

This is really cool and will solve my problem that I am having. I am not comfortable with putting a bike rack on the back of my 5er, and putting a front hitch on my truck is an option, but it makes it longer in the front which I don't want.

Right now I am storing them inside wrapped up in cheap HF moving blankets. This works ok, but is not that great for the bikes, and over time I am sure I will chip some paneling or rip the screen door getting them in and out.

Where can I buy what is in the picture??

I've not carried bikes on the back of an RV but I will say that you should make sure it is secured to the frame properly and heavy duty. On the way down here we saw an RV with a bike rack on the back. The bikes were leaning backward about 45 degrees and the front tires were bent backward. Didn't get to look at it closely but it had obviously been overloaded and came loose. They had it strapped and bungeed in it's broken position trying to get it somewhere I suppose but it still looked dangerous. I can only imagine what might have happened if one, or all, of those things fell off in front of someone at 70 mph.

The rack is a Swagman two bike rack.

The receiver was custom fabricated. I was lucky enough to get the two pieces of 6"X4"X1/4" angle Iron as extra at a job site. The 2" receiver was purchased at local RV dealer.
I marked and cut the angle, leveled 5er, used level to mark level cut line on angle. Found a local welder to weld up and punch the mounting holes gave him $40 for the work.

Here is the unit before having it welded, the hole in the angle iron was a free bonus.

you can always do a roof rack on the cab. that pin box mount wouldnt clear my truck.
We even tried some of the bed mounts and it still wouldnt clear.

I needed the ability to tandem tow so I had a custom hitch made when I was in Montana. The local Iron Works welded up the hitch, it has a 2-inch receiver, it blends in well with the back of the trailer.

You might rethink that. These are mounted to the 5er, and swing with with it. I think if you dummied up a "T" from the pin box to replicate I think you would be surprised. Many with short beds do a two bike easy. Those with long beds have put four bikes there.

At full turn I have 11 inches clearing the cab from the corner of the coach.

My 2 bike Kuat rack extends 35 inches from the receiver. My trail bike has 800mm wide bars so half that is another 15". Definitely not going to clear for me. Your results may vary

Well whatever works for you. just that the bikes are not eight feet long, so about two feet narrower that the nose, and the handle bars are above the top of the cab.

I didn't ask earlier, but is this a bracket for a bike rack you are attaching to the front of the bed rail??
