Help rewiring junction box Fuzion 371.

Help! While pulling my truck out from under my Fuzion 371, my truck cord got caught in the crack between the bed & tailgate, and I ripped it out from the junction box on the pin box. It destroyed the box and pulled insulation from the cord, so I have purchased a new box with a new cord already wired in. My problem is that I'm not sure how the wires coming from the camper matched up in the junction box.

I replaced the cord & box with the original Conntek brand. The box came with the cord already wired in with one each Blue, Brown, Green, Red, Yellow, Black & White Wires. Coming from the camper, I have a total of 13 wires. Of those 13, there is a blue and a black wire that are already connected together with a wire nut. There is 1 white wire that is obviously grounded to the pin box, and then 3 other white wires. There are 2 black wires, 1 green, 1 green w/white stripes, 1 red, 1 brown, and 1 blue wire. Can anyone shed light on things, or perhaps post a picture of their junction box showing what goes where. I hate to try to pull the camper in for service with out working lights or brakes. Oh man, sorry to hear this. It's always in the back of my mind about catching the cord when pulling away, now I'm going to be paranoid about it. Great, one more thing to be paranoid about ;)

Can you use a continuity tester on the damaged cord and box to trace out each wire and corresponding terminator? Sounds like the wire color isn't going to be one-for-one anyway.

The original cord/box was completely ripped out/off the camper. The ring terminals pulled off the camper wires & stayed on what is left of the original box terminals. However, there aren't enough ring terminals to account for each wire. So, either some of the wires weren't connected at all, or multiple wires were crimped together in the same ring terminal, or additional wires were tied together with wire nuts that where sent into orbit as everything came apart. For instance, I thought I was pretty safe to assume all the white wires are grounds, however, there are only 3 empty ring terminals left on the terminal with the white cord ground, yet there are 4 white wires hanging from the camper. I'm lost at this point, and my electrical knowledge is really just shade tree and limited to 54 years of trial and error.

14geoorge's pic is for utility trailer which uses different color code. the color code for RV is: white---ground, blue---brakes, green---tail & clearance, black--- batt charge power, red---left stop&turn, brown---right stop&turn, yellow---accessory or Back up if equipped. if I can find my pics of my trailer rewire I will post.----Lou----

Hey Doc, I could not find my pics. how about you make a jumper wire attached to your battery positive,and use it to energize each circuit to see where it goes. start by ganging all the white ground wires together then trying each circuit. the blue&black wires that are connected are likely from the breakaway switch, and one of the 2 black wires you mention is likely the hot feed to the breakaway switch. the blue wire should be brakes.the yellow wire likely was not connected unless you have backup lights on your trailer. I will keep looking for pics. keep us posted on your progress.----Lou----

Thanks for all the help. It will probably be the weekend before I have time to try things again. As far as etrailer.com goes, I've checked all their videos that I could find as well as several on Youtube, but none of them include nearly as many wires/colors as what I'm dealing with here.

It's quite common to have multiple white wires. I've seen two black wires. Don't let the number of wires confuse you, just stay focused on the number of circuits.

You can check to be sure all the white wires are ground by using a circuit tester. If you connect one lead of an ohm meter to a white wire, then every other white wire (that is connected to ground) will show continuity when touched with the other test lead. They "should" all be ground, but with any "manufacturer's build" one never knows for sure until verified.

When I changed out my tail lights to LED's, I traced the wires which were brown/green at the connector. They were (if I remember correctly) red/orange at the actual tail light fixtures. Somewhere along the way, they "changed colors"... So I'd suggest you use a 12 volt source, activate each wire and see what "light shines" or what "circuit activates".... I'd suspect that the brake line and the break away actuator are connected and probably the same color, 12 volt power lead (charge line) is probably black, who knows what color the running lights, tail lights, turn signals are, but you can identify them by applying 12 volts to each wire in your bundle and having someone check to see which lights illuminate.

Just for everyone's info, I have an acquaintance with a Fuzion (different model but same year), and it turns out the number of wires and colors matched up exactly with mine. He's in Florida for the winter, but he sent me a picture of his junction box, and I had things lined out in minutes. I had originally asked my dealer if I could check another unit on their lot, but they said it would do no good because the wire colors were always a mismatch and different. Guess they were mistaken, or maybe they just wanted the additional service income. I didn't mind paying for their help, but I didn't want to tow the camper in to them (about 40 miles away) with no lights or brakes. Thanks again for all the input.

Glad you got it. Can't say I've seen junction boxes that didn't have the same colors as they are an industry standard.

I'd be more than happy to post the picture, but I'm apparently forum challenged. I've been trying for some time here, & I can't seem to do it. The picture is saved to my computer. Somewhere you'll have an option to save it as an attachment. Do this and then when you make the post it, the picture, will post. I think it is on the left side top left when replying or posting.
