I'm a 3820FK owner also. We were out for 4 weeks last September and the front window attracts a lot interest when you pull into the parks. Lots of good comments from other campers and tours.

How does that big rig feel when towing with a SRW 1 ton truck? We are seriously considering an upgrade in a couple years to a 5er and would need to also buy a 1ton TV for towing. The DW would prefer a SRW but I think the DRW would be better. Just wondering about your impressions for your setup. Thanks.

I tow my same unit with a Chevy Silverado 2500HD with a long bed. The only thing I did extra was place airbags on the truck to slow down the bucking. The diesel with Jake brakes for the 6% grades was a godsend through the Sierra Nevada mountains. If money is not an issue (hah), then the "I Should have" factor would be to get a 1 ton Diesel with DRW especially for a 40ft (12k weight rig) and full timing. If not, the SRW will work well enough, but will place a heavy load on your rear tires and run a little hotter.

Thanks, I appreciate the information. Definitely want a diesel with an exhaust brake.

I had 3711FL with a front living and guy in storage area had front kitchen model. I ask him if had weight it and said no it's only a 28XX pin weight. I explain pin weight goes up as you load it. On a week long trip he stop by a scales and weight the truck and camper at a Cat Scale. I gave my card that day to call me if he didn't understand the numbers. He didn't weight the empty truck so I could only guess on pin but he rear axle rating on Ford 1 ton diesel SRW 7000 lbs and the scales was 7260 lbs for the rear axles. He was also over his GVWR by more than 500 lbs. He said it towed great for over 3000 miles and I told him it would since that same engine is in the f250, f350, f350 DRW, and F450. He now sports a DRW RAM truck.

My front living room was within 180 lbs of my 11,500 GVWR but had room on my axle ratings since there very little storage in the living room and most of it was behind the axles with the rear bathroom, bedroom and most of the kitchen over the axles. Here is my cat scale weights.

It actually tows fantastic. Yes a DRW would be better, but in SoCal most of the parking spaces are for compacts so even a 8ft bed is problematic. I have an Andersen Ultimate hitch and with the Moride it rides great.
