Bug removal

I don't mean to be ignorant, but what do you use to get the bugs off of the front cap? I have seen a lot of RVs going down the road without decals. Don't want to be one of them. Any particular product or formula that is tough on bugs but nice to decals?

I use warm water...hydrate them...then cotton cloth.

I've heard others suggest dryer sheets.

I find those decals easy to scratch/swirl like plexiglass. Use a lot of water and microfiber towels to clean, then a polish with Top Gun provides UV protection and makes a much easier task removing them the next time.

These two items have been working for me flawlessly going on 4 years (fulltime) and my decals still look new. The bugs have been numerous for sure and it does take a little time to remove them. I put a healthy amount of this solution in the small bucket of water, then continue to brush until they are gone. My decals are still bright and the edges are tight. I have never waxed or polished them in any way!

Top Gun cleans and polishes chemically. I have applied it to a lot of surfaces without using a buffer or having to use a polish first. It will actually remove chalky paint just using a microfiber towel without a lot of rubbing.

If you have ever used Rejex, it is a similar product, but with more durability and can be applied in the sun, unlike Rejex. Seriously, I have never used a better product than Top Gun that will also provide a level of UV protection.

The bugs on the leading edge of my airplane's wings come right off with a wet terry cloth towel after an application of Top Gun. As they recommend, I even use it on the plastic windshield with good effect and no scratching. Great product.

Dawn works great, but it will remove any wax, which I think is counterproductive. I've been using a Zymol carwash soap that works well in removing bugs and leaves the wax behind. I use one of those microfiber, sponge-gloves that applies a bit of scrubbing without harming the surface.

Well, I'm one of those dryer sheet guys. I use Bounce sheets and warm water. I have not seen any adverse effects on any surface I've used them on. Although the bugs appear to dissolve, some leave a stain that the sheets will not remove. I intend to try the Top Gun Ultra Finish to see how it works on the stains.

We spray peroxide on the windshield of our motorcycle. Peroxide dissolves the protein in the bugs and does not harm the windshield or the clear coat on the paint. we have used it on our other vehicles with good success. Haven't tried it on the RV yet.

I use dryer sheets after a good washing, dipping the dryer sheet in the wash water. As another poster said, they do a good job of taking the bugs off, some leave a stain that is harder to remove. I've not tried Top Gun, will add that to my list of things to try.

I didn't know this until just a couple minutes ago when I read the DICOR roof care booklet. Hydrogen Peroxide 3% at full strength is not recommended for use on the roof membrane, so depending on what you're cleaning, use caution around an RV. https://dicorproducts.com/images/RudysRoofbook_16.pdf

i use a product i get from my local motorcycle shop. it's in a pink spray can called Bike Spirits. works awesome at bugs and is safe on the paint and stickers. been using on my Harley and other bikes forever. if they're really on, i spray it on and let it sit for a few seconds before wiping it off

I read years ago to use cheap aerosol cooking spray (Pam), never tried though.

Tunnel, most of the cheap car wash places in Florida use the cooking spray AFTER the wash to make the bugs come off easier later.

I read that in trailer life magazine, they just wipe off!

Haven't tried them on my RV but I use the GoJo scrubbing wipes on my truck grill, bumper, mirrors and hood to get the bugs off, does a great job.
