The last few times that I've fired up the furnace it smells like rubber burning. There's no squealing like a belt; just a burnt rubber smell that lasts a few cycles and then it's gone. I wasn't sure if there's a belt in there or not. Any ideas?:)

No belts in RV furnaces. Every once in a while I get the smell of oil burning off from manufacturing.

So I guess that from non-use all summer then maybe it's just a smell that'll go away when in full use again. I thought that it might be a bearing but I would've heard that.

Long periods of non use can make a furnace spew some very unfavorable scents. :p

Our Carbon 31 when new was awful smelling. It smelled like melting plastic, burned the furnace over the summer with all the doors open just to get it out. Took it back to the dealer and they could not get the smell to reproduce, but now it does not smell so all is well.

There are oils on the metal when the furnace is built. During the PDI I try to operate the furnace long enough to burn all the oil off, and as an added benefit it allows me to test the smoke detector.

I think that you were right chuckster57, this is day 2 and the smell is gone. I can't believe that in just 2 weeks my very long trouble free camping season is over.
