Has any removed the front landing gear motor on a fifth wheel. Do you need to block up the camper or hook up to the truck? Mine seems to be dragging and getting slower. The battery checks ok, so I want to remove the gear drive and check it out or replace. Thanks

Have you ever lubricated the landing gear shafts? I'd first apply some new, fresh grease and see if that makes any difference before replacing the motor and recheck your battery.

The motor attaches to the gearbox. AFAIK you do need to support the front of the trailer. The motor and gear reduction are two separate things, and the "brake" is built into the motor. I don't think the motor is serviceable either.

I lubed my landing gear using the following procedure and it made a noticeable difference. Whether Jost gear or not, I have the two zerk fittings as described and the procedure worked quite well. Might be a good idea to have AC power connected in case your battery is weak.
