Hello All
We are planning a trip to Galveston TX and are wondering if anyone has stayed at campgrounds there. We are planning to travel from Radium Hot Springs BC and would like any suggestions.
Thanks in advance.

We've stayed here and really liked it.

I think the Jamaca Beach Resort is nice too. I prefer the west end of Galveston.

If you can do without sewer hook ups, Galveston Island State Park for half the money could work. They do have a sewer dump.

I haven't camped at either one.
Plan your travel through Houston to avoid heavy traffic.

I'll second the state park. Texas has great state parks. They are our primary cg's.

Look like the place to visit for December and January.

I hear it's pretty good flounder fishing on the bay side of the state park. Carolina rig a mud minnow on a #6 treble hook with a 1/4 oz. slip sinker. About 18"-24" leader. Better use 20# fluorocarbon, they're toothy critters.

We've stayed at the State Park twice and it's really cheap, clean, and has it's own partitioned off Beach that feels Like 200-300 yrd long when walking it.
I'm not saying it's private, but vehicular traffic is Cut off on either end and very few people travel through.

The beach side is one dune away from the beach. The bay side is across the main road- away from the beach on what looks like marshland.
