5 years to figure out they could have wired the AC wrong?

I included this on my list when I dropped the TT off for maintenance at my dealer. I showed them the letter from the Keystone website and they had not seen it. Now they know. Hopefully it will get fixed properly.

I would like to have a copy of the letter they sent to the dealer describing the repair

We just did our first one. It involves taking 1 connection with 4 wires and making it 2 connections with two wires each.

Thanks for the info.

Is it possible to post the TSB or a picture?

Chuckster:

Perhaps a diagram or picture would help. I am too far away from any dealer so I would like to repair it myself.

Thanks

Since my boss did the repair, I didn't get a chance to copy the paperwork. I will see if it's still around.

I'd be interested also. I see no reason to take it 2 1/2 hours to my dealer.

Hi chuckster57,

I too would like to know what needs to be done, I received the recall letter on Friday and it states to take the trailer back to where you bought it, which is 5 hours away.

Thanks,

-Brian

ANY Keystone dealer can do the work. We didn't sell the one we did last week.

I would not let 2 of my local keystone dealers put air in my lawn mower tires, much less do any electrical work,

Shopping locally and Keystone Dealer said he would not work on a trailer not bought from him. Quickly moved on.

Two hours to my dealer and they already caused damage to my refrigerator which was fixed by my local non-Keystone SC, no charge under warranty.

Keystone Customer Service said they will pay up to $40 to have my local RV (my trusted) Service Center perform the repairs. The rest is my out of pocket. OK with me.

Must have an invoice with the last 8 characters of the VIN and before and after pictures of the work.

Call them for assistance.

Would like to have a detailed description of the work and before and after pictures to show the dealer. Scheduled for service in early November.

It may not be a problem in your particular case. The recall involves an inspection of the wiring and if it's not wired correctly it is re wired. Potential for loss of property or life should be enough incentive to get it done. we have done 4 now and had to re wire all of them.

It's your choice, but what if your trailer does have a "problem" while your in it sleeping? Think you can get everyone and everything valuable to you out?

Haha! I feel the same way! If they cant build them right how can they fix them right. I don't trust the stealership.

I need to look real closely at the work my dealer did for this recall. It doesn't look like some of the 'complete' pictures I've seen.

Has anyone had an issue AFTER the thermostat fix is done where you turn on the heater and the A/C turns on? It happened to me this weekend and I had to throw the breaker on the A/C to get only the heater to function. Outdoor temp at the time was about 45 F. I think we used the heater one time after the fix and I don't recall this happening (my memory isn't what it used to be!) Thanks.

If you have the 3 button LED Dometic thermostat, make sure the fan is set to auto.

Thank you! That did the trick. I had it set to "LO" fan speed.

Do you know why the thermostat logic enables both units on heat and not on cool when not on "AUTO"? We hadn't run the heat for a while (a most unusual winter, even for Florida) and obviously we had the A/C fan throttled back from the last time we used it to cut back on the noise level.

Dometic decided that since warm air rises, the end user should have the option to use the roof ducting to distribute the heat produced by the furnace. Does it work?? Don't know because I don't have that set up.

I was under the impression that the AC compressor didn't turn on, just the fan. I think this question/observation has come up several times recently. Regardless, the fix each time has been to put the fan setting to auto.

Our 2014 was wired incorrectly... It is a quick fix if you can follow a wiring diagram...

Our 2014 22RBPR was wired incorrectly and I fixed it myself, following the information posted in This Thread (http://www.keystoneforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26291&page=2), specifically posts 46 & 47.

It was a simple fix and took me 10 - 15 minutes.

Is this for the hideouts as well?

Cheryl, It depends on your year of trailer. This has been going on for a while and any newer units should already be clear.

You can go to the KeystoneRV.com website, customer service section and you'll see a link for "recalls". Go to that link, choose a Keystone brand and it will list all the recalls (old and current) for that brand of trailer.

Got the Safety Recall notice last year. Searched for and got the instructions: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2016/RCMN-16V600-8361.pdf
Piece of cake, had an extra couple of crimp connectors, done in less time than I spent searching for the fix.

Dealer is far enough away I don't go for the "free" checks, full days drive to have them check tire pressure and tell me I need tires or a "preservation" treatment.:banghead:

Now I get a "second notice" for the recall, can't find where to say it's fixed. Need to pass a law that keeps sales people out of website design and only allows techs. Maybe we would get websites that are useful.
