Can anyone offer insight for Straits State Park in St. Ignace? Going there this weekend.

I believe you're going to have a heck of a time finding a site to park a 37' travel trailer at Straits State Park. There are a number of sites that are long enough, but most of the "longer ones" are on a hillside and tough to get level. If you're going to "sight-see" in the area (not spend a lot of time at the campground) you might want to consider the casino campground. It's not a "true campground", no fires, etc, but for $15 a night with water and electricity (30 and 50 amp) with a dump station onsite, there are usually sites available, even on the weekends.

Straits State Park is not a "waterfront" campground, even though you can hike to Lake Huron "through the bushes".... We stayed there a couple of times and found that Brevort Lake National Forest Campground (dry camping with generators allowed during the day) was much more "camping oriented" than the Straits. Brevort Lake NF is west on US2 about 15 miles from the bridge.

Thank you for the insight. I know they redid the upper part of the campground last summer, but do not know to what extent. I'm always worried about finding a spot for the TT. Wife grew up camping at Brevort a lot. We plan on driving there to scope it out as she has not been there in a long while.

Was a great trip. Fit on the site with no issue. Definitely will return to Straits.
