Cutting a hole in the underbelly

I want to install a 600 watt inverter in the pass thru compartment of our Springdale, since that's the closest I can get to the batteries, which are behind the propane tanks on the tongue. The underbelly of our TT is completely covered in that woven black stuff (kind of looks like a black tarp or really heavy ground cover) and I'll have to cut into it at some point to run the wiring for the inverter to the batteries. Should I put heavy duty duct tape where I want to cut to keep it from fraying and maybe unraveling? Or is there something else I should use? Thanks for any advice.

Check with your local RV parts store, they make a tape specifically for use on underbelly's.

Under belly tape I used alummin ducking tape then sprayed it flat black after its on. Did this 4 years ago.

I am aware of two tape products, one is called Darco and the other Flex-Mend. I was unable to locate either at any local RV dealers, but was able to find Flex-Mend at a local mobile home dealer.

The online instructions indicate that after application, heat and pressure should be applied to maximize adhesion.

All I can say is Good Luck. I had to cut my underbelly (that black fiber stuff) and I could not find any tape that lasted. I finally installed galv/alum siding under the entire trailer. I hope you have better luck.

I've cut into mine a couple of times. Gorilla Tape works fine.

I dropped the coroplast belly on my Laredo a couple of weeks ago to do some work - it's not that hard to remove the screws and drop the coroplast out of the way. No flaps or cuts to deal with after putting it back up.
