Opened the trailer recently. It is stored on our seasonal site over the winter. For the first time in 5 winters in 2 trailers, we found evidence of a mouse: a small 6-inch area of droppings on the mattress pad, a smaller area along with an acorn on the couch, another acorn on top of a plastic bin and a small scattering of droppings on the bunk above. Nothing else anywhere. Couldn't t find where it got in or out. No odor of deceased mouse. Did find one dead mouse outside the trailer.
We only use Fresh Cab throughout the trailer and have always opened up to a clean and fresh trailer. First time to find any evidence of mice in trailer, although other campers have them and we've had them in the shed.

The rest of the story....came back last night (2weeks later) to find a mouse had crawled under the blanket on a bed and chewed through the he bottom sheet and some of the matress pad. DS16 was not happy to find this when he got ready for bed. Mouse droppings around the hole.

Dogs were interested in the area under the refrigerator. Today we took off the vent cover and found lots of droppings. Also, more under the stove. We've set traps.

Debating about putting Fresh Cab or peppermint in those spots? My other son and I are sensitive to strong odors, so I'm hesitant.

So I have been meaning to make a post about this, but this spring we found droppings in the heater ducts. Logs story short is if you have a heated underbelly the mice can get really easy. Once try get into the underbelly they can easily find the open end of the 2" duct that heats the underbelly and get right into the trailer through the rest of the ducts. Kind of like a little mouse superhighway.

May be how they're getting about. Will do more investigating over the long weekend.
