Having owned a fair number of 22R-powered toyotas, I can't imagine how slow that thing is..

Even worse. It has round headlights, that's a 1979 or 1980 with a 20R engine.

In 1981, you had round headlights and a carb'd 22R.

L45 transmission, which had pretty small bearings even if you weren't towing...

I did look for one of those cab extensions for a while, wanting to use that cab on a 4x4.

Great little pickups.. but tow a 5th wheel.. heck, tow much of anything is questionable...

Back in the late 1980s. I had sold a 14ft TT. At that time a good friend got a Toyota 1 ton 4x2 standard cab and 5th wheel trailer from a uncle. The trailer was about the size of the one pictured, guessing 22ft range. (From over hang bed to rear) He let me use it to try it out on a camp trip. Since we have mt.s everyway you leave PDX in was a slow ride up and over them. The trailer was great, truck to small and trailer was made for a small truck. So no deal was made. That was the only Toyota I ever looked at that had 1 ton Toyota factory decals.

I worked with a guy a couple years ago in the Eagleford out of Laredo that pulled a triple axle 5th from Houston to Catarina with a Toyota. I told him he was crazy. No, he said he had AIRBAGS!
Another coworker in Deer Park had one of the Toyota Dolphin class C motorhomes. Rear axle bearings wouldn't make 10,000 miles. Bob...there is a reason for that. Yeah yeah.
But those are some cool pics. I always wanted a FJ40.
