Does anyone know what is the Max Weight on the cargo door of a 2007 3612? I have a 1973 VW Thing the weight is around 1900 lbs. Would like to take it on some outings but don't want to damage the door.

With no reply in 24 hours I will give you an answer you are not going to like.....look at the other thread in this section about doors splitting in the middle. Not sure if it's worth the hassle.

I think that's a different door type, not 100% sure. Another difference will be that a Thing has 4 wheels, with a 4-inch (or so) contact patch each. A GoldWing has a narrow (front) wheel - comparatively...

I dunno if a Thing (2k lbs?) can be safely loaded on one of those doors or not.. Likely it's weight is better spread than a Goldwing, but there is more of it and it's distributed differently....

Agree on the 4 wheels versus two and not running up the middle. I looked all over and found a huge variance on what the load ratings are for the door even within the same model RV. So basically, best advice is to do alot of reading and then use your own risk assessment to see if it's worth the trouble.

Over all weight is within the garage specs but I am gonna bet their is not one factory rep that will give you a 100% guaranteed or your money back on the door capacities.

Also of note the 1900 lbs is empty weight. Curb weight (fuel, oil, water) is closer to 2100 pounds, plus any accessories and gear left in the machine.

Thanks for the reply's. I wonder if you put down some shoring to drive up to spread the PSI out on the door.
