Been thinking of this for months, almost finished. Added second battery, maybe even go to four, see how it goes. Installed the inverter, now have AC 120v in the cabin for those walmart mornings without going out and starting the generator in the truck before pulling out! Tested the microwave, TV, everything except the air conditioning (obviously). Only consideration.... Need to manually turn off the converter breaker before pushing the button on the remote for the inverter, did not feel it's worth it to install an auto sensing switch. We are happy with how it came out.

very nice- I have one in my garage for 2 years now,I really should install it. I hate having my rv in storage. Too much of a pain to work on.

What did you use for battery's?

Originally I installed 2X 12V Optima Blue top, 55Ah - 120min RC. I changed my mind and went for 4X, they actually arrived today, will install this week considering it's going to be in the 70's... After work project. Stopping overnight in parking lot's will be a breeze now, won't even need to start the generator for coffee in the morning!

wiring? I see the plug, is that going to the 110 volt circuit breaker panel? or is it tied to the shore power connection?

Into the propane compartment, there it either is plugged into the cord that is mounted all the way back to shore power, or unplugged which allows the shore power cord to go into the truck bed for plugging into the generator I carry in the back of the truck bed.

Finished the mod. Very happy with result, ready for the camping year! Finished up the project. End result is 220 Ah of maintenance free AGM battery bank, battery cut-off switch, 2000 watt inverter with 200 amp fuse, with remote on/off switch inside the cabin. Lastly, a wired plug in the left side compartment to plug all this into the main power inlet. What does all this mean.... Don't need to go outside anymore (rain or shine) to start or plug in the generator while not on shore power while traveling! Our week of off-grid at Bristol will use much less fuel now as well, just use the generator to charge the batteries a couple of times a day, as long as the aircon does not need to be used (which it usually does). This all looks real complicated, however I did all the research during the winter and was actually less than two hours of work! Total cost is like $850.00 considering I already had one battery. Sounds like a lot, however definitely in the investment/comfort zone! I was playing around with it yesterday and it was so cool to see the plugs in the rv show 120V without being plugged in! Had the main aircon running in fan mode, TV and satellite box running and microwaved a cup of water. Pretty cool.

Dave - You need to get that box out of the garage and install it! This mod was so easy and after planning, it only took me a total of less than 2hrs to get it all done. Definitely worth the time and money start to finish for the result!
