I know covers have been disputed. I have a 277rlswe 2015. This will be the first trailer I won't cover for the winter in Southern OR. Was wondering how I would, if I was going to, with the rain spouts sticking out 3 or 4 inches? Wouldn't it tear the cover? Or break the spouts?

I've seen several methods of protective covers for the rain spouts. Some have used tennis balls and various types of foam - including swimming "noodles" that have been cut and fashioned to fit over the spouts. Most use some kind of tape to secure the protective cover.

If you have the removable, clip-on type of spout, that makes the job a bit easier.

I put ten tennis balls on the ten drain spots on my 2014 3150 Montana 5th wheel. I cut the bottoms out of the tennis balls too to drain the water out of the balls. I have the cover on to control some of the sun fade, but I am taking the cover off once the El Nino storms start kicking up here in California.

I just purchased a ADCO cover and included were four little rain spout covers that tied on around them before putting the cover on. I do like the idea of the tennis balls though...I think that would work better.

The rain spout covers don't work, just got back from replacing my one year old cover that has holes around all the rain spouts. This year going to use the pool noodles or tennis balls.

Just thought I'd save you from the frustration.

He didn't say rain, probably for the wind. Whipping covers do more damage to the camper than they are worth. A friend that we camp with had his cover rub through the rubber roof on the edges from his cover whipping around.

I slip on the rain spout covers than slip my notched tennis balls over the spouts.
Works well for me.

I went to Lowes and bought a stick of cheap 1/2" pipe insulation and cut four lengths for the spouts. I bought my cover strictly for sun protection. Where I store it the passenger side faces south and gets crushed by the sun all day long. It's at about 7,000 feet and the sun is brutal out here. I covered it two weeks ago and I just checked on it today. So far, so good.

Yes, I am worried about wind damage from major storms. We had some wind a week ago, but everything was secured.
