Compact air compressor

Now that the weather is changing here in NJ it is time to think about about winterizing the rig. I would like to get some recommendations on a portable air compressor that 1) has enough volume to winterize the rig & 2) compact enough to fit in the Main storage compartment. I'm tired of dragging 150' of air hose out to the rig from the garage every time I need air to work on something.

We carry a Porter Cable pancake that came from Lowes for about $100. While you only need about 30 lbs pressure to blow out the plumbing, this one will also air up the tires to 110 lbs. It is light enough to carry around and stores in the basement of the fiver fine.

You don't need another air compressor, just a portable air tank - a 5 gallon one works fine.

For winterizing, a tank will do. For everything else, especially if you've got higher load range tires, you need a compressor that will do 120psi, preferably 150psi, otherwise it's going to take a long time.

I've used this, it's $120 - I've had it for more than 6 years. With one exception (I got water in the tank from not draining it) it's been outstanding - fills fast, 150psi, and much better than a few of the pancake compressors that I've used in the past:

Thanks all for the suggestions. I wil look into these 2 and decide which to go with. They both look like they would work out well for my needs and fit in the basement of the 5ver nicely!(tx)

We have the same compressor as Desert 185 from Harbor freight works great for all the RV issues.

We also started wit the pancake compressor from Harbor Freight but it wouldn't hit a lick at a snake. Tried to bring the truck tires to 80 PSI after a little "incident" and it wouldn't tote the load. We took it back and went the route of Barbell with the Porter Cable from Lowe's. A little more money but it works just fine.

Have a cheap 120vac Husky oilless air compressor with tank that I bought from Lowe's one Christmas. Came in handy on this last trip out west. Was able to fill the tires in the RV park before heading home and then on the road when a metal valve stem worked loose and tire lost air.

Recently used it inside the trailer with the brad nail gun that came with it to reattach the trim i ripped off when an object got lodged between wall and the slide out as i was opening it.

Hmmm... Haven't tried that scenario, yet. Might have to go PC. Porter Cable, that is. Power tools with no power...no bueno.

Found this on the Lowe's site. Good SCFM, low profile for fitting in the basement and good reviews. Has anyone used one?
