Sailun S637 235/85R 16 vs ST235/85R 16

[On The Road Again]

I am shopping for a set of Sailun S637 tires to replace the Keystone OEM tires.
Sailun offers a 235/85R 16 tire and a ST235/85R 16. The only difference I can see, besides the price difference, is the 235/85R 16 has a service description of 124 L (3750) and the ST235/85R 16 has a service description of 129 L (4075).
Anyone bought one ever the other? Why?

I just bought the S637's and called it quits. I didn't even know they made an ST tire. I went with then because I wanted to get rid of ST tires. They also call the S637's trailer tires.

I bought the ST versions. I don't know what the difference is. You can try emailing simpletire and see if they know.

Mine are LT...I didn't know they had 2 versions either. I think mine also say "for trailer use" on them.

I called Simpletire and all they could tell me was one is rated for 124 L and the other is rated for 129 L.

I was at a Camping World today. They were having a mini RV show and had a lot of open trailers to look at. I was drawn to a 41', 2016 Raptor. It's GVWR was listed as 20,000# and it had triple axles rated at 7000# each. I expected to see 17.5" branded tires. Nope, ST235/85R16G rated at 4080" ea. and speed rated at 75 MPH.

I called Simpletire and all they could tell me was one is rated for 124 L and the other is rated for 129 L.

Apparently that's the load index.
124L = 3527 lbs
129L = 4079 lbs

I can tell you that what I have appears (and weighs) out as a big improvement. To me, these things are simply insurance. I don't want to make an insurance claim over $2-$3k in damage because tire tread separated and tore up the trailer.

So that's perfectly legal. 21,000 lbs of axle and 24,480 lbs of tire. As some of that weight is distributed on the pin, that's a better margin that is on many trailers.

Same answer for me though - I just don't trust those tires to be built in a consistent fashion and not degrade substantially in the first couple of years.

It would be nice to see wheel/tire options...

In this case the load index (4079#) is very close to the load range letter G (4080#). Both are depicted on the tire sidewall. Currently, the load range letter is the the only official tire load capacity recognition for all LT & ST tires..

that's it. they both are named the same, Sailun: S637 Regional Trailer and one is about $132 and the other $151. go figure.

Just curious if you remember what brand the tires were. So far when I've seen G rated OE tires they have all been Goodyear.

The name brand was a letter number combo. Another new off shore tire I'm sure. I was there with others and didn't have time to do a closer inspection other than the service and load ratings off the individual tire I was looking at.
