Dogs and trailers

I am probably over thinking this issue as I don't have our trailer yet but I have 2 medium dogs about 60 lbs each. I can't lift them into trailer. Those of you who have dogs how do they manage the steps? Do the trailers steps work ok or am I going to need to build one. I got one of those dog ramps and both of mine dogs won't go near it. Thanks

We have a medium sized (50 lb) dog and a toy 7 lb dog, both have gone up and down the stairs of every camper we've owned without any problems. They may hesitate a bit at first, but once they've used them, won't be a problem.

Both our dogs use the steps but the fat one needs a small pre-step so we got a folding step and just set it at the foot of the trailer steps. It works great as a step for them into the back seat of the dually too. I also use it to reach the hitch pin over the fender.

I have a 40# Border Collie and a 90# Labrador. My trailer has 3 steps. They typically pass over the bottom one, put a paw on the second one, and climb on in. After the first few attempts they mastered it in and out.

I have a 240 lb Mastiff so whether it is the camper, the back seat of my dually or the wife's SUV, we invested in this product and makes his life so much easier. Our issues are unique because of his length. He needs wider steps (depth) as well as something that does not buckle with the weight.

We have a 100lb American Bulldog and a 45lb American Pit Bull Terrier. They both use the trailer's steps just fine. However, we have a 2-story house so the dogs are no strangers to steps. Your dogs will be good to go.

We have two Mini Schnauzers (20# and 16#) who were a little hesitant at first with our 4 stepper.

I took an old beach towel and cascaded it down the stairs like a runner. Once they couldn't see thru the riser opening, they scampered in an out a few times with dog treats and praise. I then folded the towel in half lengthwise so that half of each tread was exposed until they were used to this. Now the towel is ancient history, and they come and go easily.

Be patient and supportive, it will come.

Our bully hurt his back leg on our steps one time so I bought this ramp its the longest portable ramp I could find (its 8 ft long and extra wide) Our dogs just love it.

We have two 70 plus chow chows and use this one.. It's extra wide, light weight aluminum.. We removed the anti slip tape skid stuff and glued on indoor/outdoor carpet.. Works great

This kind of gives you an idea of the angle with the longer ramp.. Very easy and safe for the dogs and your back
