Anderson ultimate hitch + Ram shortbed + Montana High County = win..

Just arrived back home after picking up a 2015 montana hc with the new Anderson ultimate hitch. After lots of debate i went with the Ultimate aluminum hitch and wanted to report back that it actually worked. Cant quite go 90deg but it will go pretty close. Ill update with a full review shortly but i wanted to throw up a few pics tonight.

Nice! I see you have the setup oriented the same way I do with my Ram 2500 LB and Laredo 245RL, with the Andersen ball behind the gooseneck and the adapter behind the king pin. For my setup, that puts the king pin as close to centered over the axle as I can get, and still maintains enough clearance to back into hitching position with the tailgate down.

I haven't tested a 90° cut yet - simply because I haven't needed to. I may do so one of these days.

Do you happen to know the actual bed length? Or the distance from the back of the cab to the Andersen ball on the hitch? Trying to evaluate for my rig.

I hadn't seen that hitch before.. It's reasonably inexpensive. Glad to hear that it tows well.

I've got a short bed dodge and it necessitated a sliding hitch...

We have the same set up in our Ram 3500. When I first installed it, I put the king pin adapter on the opposite way shown in your photo. When I closed the tail gate it was apparent that the pin box would hit the gate, so I reversed the adapter. Have only towed a few hundred miles with it so far but I am very pleased with the Andersen. Much quieter and easier to hook up & unhook than the PullRite that it replaced. And with a fixed pivot point the trailer doesn't cut corners like it used to and takes less room to maneuver, too.

Just another thumbs up for the Andersen ultimate 5th wheel setup. I have a 2010 Ram 2500 short bed. I bought a Reese slider when I bought my 5th wheel 5 years ago. A lot of chucking, so I added a MorRyde kingpin that eliminated the chucking. But I was not really satisfied with the ride. Noisy, clunky, hard to move the head when I wanted to maneuver/BU. I especially disliked the weight of the thing when removing/installing the hitch.
I just returned from my maiden voyage using the Andersen. I LIKE IT!! Seems to pull/handle better, much quieter (no squeaks/groans), and I do not have to move the hitch when I maneuver. Best of all, it weighs less than 50 pounds and super easy to install or remove.

2014 Ram 2500 short bed, running an Andersen Aluminum. I run the coupler the other way from the OP. It is extremly close to the tailgate but it clears. I always forget to take pictures of the hitch or clearances. Here's a picture showing cab clearance from afar, it is all i have. No problems with clearances so far other than hooking the rail of my rollup tonneau, lopro mounts inside the rails, on a sharp turn.

would anyone be so kind as to get me the measurement from the ground to the floor of your truck bed? I'm at 39-1/2" and just want to verify there's someone out there with a similar setup before I purchase the hitch. Oh, and good looking rigs! :D

Be careful. I had the Andersen. 2015 megacab. 2015 Montana 3610. While backing the truck and trailer Made contact. 1700.00. Truck had 2500 miles...id post pics if I knew how....

Megacab means 6'4" bed. I have one and worried about contact which led me to a sidewinder. I have been in several instances where I needed 90 degrees to get into a campsite...here at fort wilderness I just had to do it two days ago when getting into our spot. I think the Anderson is a good idea, but I didn't want to risk contact
