Although this particular generator won't be available until late September, the Generac site has over 50 reviews online. I assume these are from factory demos that some folks have attended, either at trade shows or something similar.

Does anyone here have any direct experience with these? I am looking to add a pair of 2000's and the fact that the Generac is about $350 cheaper than the Honda is worth looking into. When buying 2, even more so.

I know that Honda is the "gold standard" but money left in my pocket at the end of the day is as good as gold. Both have a 3 year warranty so that should mean something.

Any thoughts?

I looked on their site yesterday and they look very impressive. I especially like the device used to pair the two generators which is a box with the 30 amp outlet and two pigtails that just plug into the 20 amp outlets on the two units. I already have the Hondas, so will not be getting them, but if I didn't, would not hesitate to buy them.

The Generac looks impressive but it's "the new kid on the block" without any established track record. It may be a great buy, it may turn out to be similar to some of the competition. The price of $799 each is on the high end for the "not a Honda" type inverter generators. Champion 2000 watt models routinely sell for $439-479 for a similar generator.

I'd do some more research, the reviews read well, but if it's not yet on the market, how much actual time did the reviewers spend operating/using the generators?

Can you point me to some place that sells the Champion 2000 for less than $500? Best price I found so far is $545

Finding them on sale is a "hit and miss" type of situation, but Blain's Fleet and Farm is where I bought mine last year. Currently, they are on sale there for $499 with free shipping. http://www.farmandfleet.com/products/705424-champion-power-equipment-1700w-2000w-inverter-generator.html?feedsource=1&gclid=COOF_8a4yMcCFYwYHwodol4Org

ADDED: The free shipping has some limitations (use their credit card, etc). I did a quick check to ship to Lawrenceburg, TN. No sales tax and shipping of $12.42 for each unit. If you watch websites, you'll find them discounted another $40 to $75 depending on the time of year, stock levels and other situations. It's never a "guaranteed to be on sale during a certain month" kind of pricing.

Hello, this guy has a couple of new ones on Ebay. Might be a deal if it stays a low price. Shipping might get expensive though. Here's the link to one of them:

This is basically the same one I bought, from Costco, with a buy it now price that is $11 less and free shipping. Probably would not charge sales tax either.

Champion 3100 Watt Inverter (http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Champion-Power-Equipment-75531I-No-75531i-Inverter-Generator-3100-watt/281781155857?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%2 6asc%3D33097%26meid%3Db8d1ddc20a6147499d72264725db 9c9b%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D3316 38729679)

I am really happy with mine and would recommend it to anyone.
