Rubber roof

Ok, have to break down and wash the rig, the rubber roof has a lot of black on it, mostly road grime, is there a good cleaning agent for getting this off. I've heard these roofs are persnickety. And you need to be careful.:)

Thanks for the feedback, I also have a couple of scrapes from tree limbs that had rubbed the roof edge, so got some self leveling RTV to fill those in, I put some of that sticky putty tape over those spots till the weather warmed up to keep moisture from getting under the skin. Borax huh! ! ! didn't know they still made the stuff. Thanks again. Steve:)

Rubber roof cleaner that you can get at rv supply stores is pricey but work well. I prefer using spic and span with dawn mixed in and a good deck brush on a pole. If really dirty I will clean all self leveling caulk areas with a hand brush.
I have also used mild bleach solution to remove mold. In all cases make sure you rinse off everything real good including the side and end walls.

I just finished washing using borax and a little dawn soap. It worked pretty well but I do have a lot of mildew staining on the rubber roof. I wouldn't mind it so much but in the front of the trailer the roof slopes down a lot and much of the roof is visible from the ground.
I'm wet and cold, not the best time of year for washing an RV.

Give it some time to dry .... once it is clean the sun will lighten the stains somewhat. (or you will grow accustomed to it) Just be sure to double check all the sealant.

You're right, it lightened up some and I'm already used to it :)
Well I'm dry, warm and have an adult beverage in front of me now so enough of that cleaning. This spring I plan on cleaning again and giving the roof a coat of an approved product. I did check the seams and penetrations for condition, it all looked good.

I use black streak remover from Biokleen. It works great. Start at the bottom and work your way to the top. Might wanna wear gloves, the high ph base will wrinkle the skin on your hands a bunch. I like it so much I bought a case. Case discount plus savings on shipping added to the reasoning of buying that way. The first time we used it at the end of last summer I used it full strength. Since our TT was waxed last year it seems like the streaks there now from the winter may wipe off easier, so I may use the streak remover at one of the diluted ratios.
