somewhere aside from Big Meadows!

My wife and I always go to Big Meadows in the Shenandoah Mountains. It's nice enough, but I'd like to try somewhere else. I'd like some luxury with big sites, nice fire pits, and beautiful views. It's just us as a couple--any suggestions?

Shenandoah River State Park is nice and likely closer to you than Big Meadows.

How close is swimming and the river in the full hookup sites? Do you need to drive? We are always looking for close get aways

If you are referring to Shenandoah River SP, there are only water and electric, no sewer hookups but the dump station is on the way out of the CG. You can see the river across a field from the CG, maybe 100/200 yards.

If I don't have one of my kayaks I usually walk to the river and Wade. Reasonable 8-10 inch small mouth from time to time.

No sewer isn't a big issue since the showers are pretty new and in line with the other new VA state park bath houses.
