Turbo Problems? Any mechanics out there?

2007 Chevy LBZ 3500 6.6L diesel, dually, CC, LB, 4x4, 134,000 miles.
At the end of our 2000 mile trip, coming through the mountains on US-23, KY to VA, the truck started overheating on uphills. Heard a whining sound (not a whistle) and assumed the fan clutch. Had it replaced when we got home.
Downhill and flat roads, temps were normal.
Still whining, getting worse.
Starts when engine is warmed up, about 160+.
Whines on moderate acceleration, stops immediately when you let off the gas.
Does not whine faster as RPM increases but it does get louder.
Does not do it in PARK or while brake is held, revving up the engine.
Braking, turning or switching the AC on/off has no effect.

Sounds like a loose clamp on the engine air intake side between the turbo and the engine. The turbo is pushing air, which causes a whistle through the loose clamp at higher boost pressures, possibly black smoke (not enough air for the fuel delivered) and a loss of power. These clamps should be checked occasionally.

These clamps should be checked occasionally.

Going to look at the connection this weekend. A couple others think it's an exhaust/turbo leak also because of the fact it doesn't happen until the engine hits about 175 degrees. Heat causing pipe to expand.

Yup! Lose a boot on the CAC and you lose boost. In a turbocharged Diesel engine the amount of air sent to the combustion chamber will affect power and such. Your in an "over fueling" condition and heat builds up real fast.
