Add 2nd Battery in a 26sab 5er

This question is directed to owners of a late model Cougar Xlite 26sab's. I would like to add a 2nd battery. Obviously can't put it in the same compartment with the OEM battery. Have any of you added a 2nd battery. I would have to put it on the other side of that metal partition in the front storage bay but I'm concerned that the flimsy metal flooring is not strong enough to hold the 45 or so lbs.
Has anybody added a 2nd battery in that area & if so did you beef up the flooring or just leave it as is?

Mine is a 13 and I have way more than 45lbs on that floor I don't think that there would be an issue.

Same for me. Ours is a 2012 and I keep quite a bit stored on that tray with no problem. Just a tip, you probably should buy 2 new batteries rather than adding a single new one. I understand from other posts on the site that you should buy and install two batteries in pairs.

That's what I plan to do (buy 2 new ones) when this one goes tits up.. Was just saying I was thinking adding second one. I have 4 tubs setting on that floor but the weight is spread out over 3/4 of it, not like a 45 or 50 #'s of battery in a bout a 6" by 12" area. Don't want to be tuly boppin down the hiway and have that floor fall out. lol

Don't forget, wherever you put it must be vented.

Just make sure they are Parallel, or you can do damage.

We have a cougar 322qbs and we added 2 120lb 6volt batteries in the front compartment behind the 5th wheel hitch. The floor is steel and it seems to be holding up fine. I did put a 3/4 plywood base under the batteries to spread the load out over a wider area but after a year and 10kmiles it still seems to be fine.

Arturob...Your reply is why I asked for only owners of the 26sab, they know how it's built ...you don't. It's 11"w X 21" L. Would be extremely difficult to squeeze a second battery in there. Yes I can move the battery over to the front storage compartment to match it up with another one (2 new ones) if I was certain the 1/8" metal flooring wouldn't give way eventually. That's why I was asking if any "26sab owners" had done it.
