Recently upgraded to an electric tongue jack. I have seen that they sell covers for them. Really, do they need to have a cover over them. I would think they would be fine out in the weather. Thoughts?

There was one spot on mine that could have seeped moisture into the inner workings. I just covered it with a 5 quart bucket......:)
when the RV was not in use..

I have a 2015 Cougar 33RBI .. tonight when I came home the LED light on the jack was lit. Thought maybe wife flipped the switch ON... but is was in the OFF position. Cycled the switch on and off a few times, the LED'S turned on but in the OFF position they only dimmed. So the LED'S don't turn off - kinda weird.... Maybe this has something to do with the hard hard rain we got today? I'll take it apart tomorrow. Anyone else have this happen?

I've had 2 electric jacks and I covered both with the heavy duty vinyl cover from Ultra Fab. They seem to last longer, and the eBay knock-offs I've seen at campgrounds were very thin. For the price of the cover I don't see any reason to not use one.

I cover mine, worth the $8 investment to maybe / possibly protect the $200+ investment

I leave a 5 gal. bucket over my jack. I also use that bucket to hold the wood and chocks that are used when I am traveling with the trailer.

I cover mine with a Ultra Fab cover from Amazon. For the costs, it doesn't make sense not too. I use a small bungee cord to keep it on when I'm driving. I was afraid water would get inside while driving in the rain, not so much while sitting. Water seems to find its way into places at highway speeds.

When we tagged, I used to use a small hefty garbage bag, and bungee.
Cheap, easy to come by, and replicable/reusable/recyclable, and the bungee usually found a "job" on site.

Cover seems like a safe investment to protect my Husky 4500. 303 makes it shine

If you call Ultra Fab, they will send you one at no cost, trust me my first one had a small leak on the seal and it froze up on me. I had to remove the jack in order to go home after camping.

X2^ Love it when simple things do double duty.
