Currently at the Koa in Rodanthe. So far its nice. Pretty good size for a campground in OBX.
We got a pull thru site that was just done not to long ago. Nice gravel spot with new concrete pad right a door entrance. Two sewer hookups which is nice when spending a week.
Pool is very nice. Friendly staff so far. Small restaurant on site. Enjoyed lunch food there today.
I like the fact there is plenty of room between sites
Spent one night at Koa in VA Beach last night. The pool was nice but the camping sites were too close and not taken care off. I have a sister who lives near and one of the staff was horrible. When we arrived we advised we had the tow vehicle and one other car. We brought my older mother down in her car and my sister was coming to get her and the car to stay with them for a week. Woman gave us two mirror tag's and said that's fine. This older guy kept coming to the site insisting we could only have the camper and tow vehicle. We had to move other car to other side of campground. When I showed him the second pass he insisted that stays on camper. What a jerk.
Needless to say I won't return there.

OBX KOA is completely the opposite so far.

Depends on what you like to do .... the KOA and Camp Hatteras in Rodanthe are big campgrounds within walking distance to the beach. Since we like to surf fish and take our truck with all the gear on to the beach, we prefer to be further down the island where it is less crowded and there are more ramps to get onto the beach. We love Frisco Woods Campground in Frisco. Waterfront (on the soundside) sites and water view sites with full hookups. Decent pool, laundry facilities and newly renovated, air conditioned bath houses. There is a bar/restaurant adjacent, and the camp store has the basic supplies. There is a grocery store/gas station/tackle shop and ramp to the beach a half mile down the road. We always go the first two weeks in June, then sometimes again in the fall, and the weather is usually perfect. Don't know about the middle of the summer - have heard it is pretty hot and buggy .....

Thanks we were kind of leaning towards the KOA and you guys just helped me to make my decision. Just wondering if anyone has camped on the 50 amp pull thru sites? The list 2 categories one with shelter and one closer to beach. Just wondering if any one has stayed at one or the other?

Thats all we get ,The sites with the shelters are 814 thats the last picture, site 217 thats the 1st two pictures and then you have 807, 218 and 227 all are good.217 218,227 are close to the beach and 814 is the first one you come to when you come in and 807 is to the right midway down facing opposite way but still good.Hope this helps you out.
