Is there any disadvantage to having an electric tongue jack that is over-rated for your TT?

I'm looking at the Husky Brute 4500 with remote vs the Husky 3000 without remote. I'd really prefer having the remote. The weight difference is only 1.2 lbs, so that shouldn't be a concern.

I certainly don't need a 4500 lb jack, 3000 would do just fine with a 23RB.

Sorry for all the newbie questions, but I want to get this right.

This falls under the "can't have too much" category.

Checking the amperage draw of the motor, if the higher capacity Jack is more then what you need and draws more amperage that could be disadvantages, especially cold camping with single battery. I tried to see what the difference was on the lower to higher lifting capacity jacks but the ads I checked did not show the amperage draw. Mine is a 2.5 Ton and works well with my truck and trailer.

I bought the Husky 4500 with remote control. Love it.

Can't imagine why too much would ever be a problem. If you like it, get it!

I find it an advantage to have. Especially when setting up the weight distribution bars.

I have a 23RB and went with the 4500lbs jack and love it. It does not have to work hard at all for the 23RB, but the way I looked at it was buy this jack and move it trailer to trailer as I upgrade campers later in life.

Love our 4500 Husky. Have had it for 2 years now and works great. Doubt we needed the 4500 but why not? It's been a workhorse for me. The only time I had an issue is when I put the battery back on and neglected to completely tighten the nut on the cable. Tried to raise the jack and nothing. I was sure it had gone bad but I kept looking around and discovered the loose cable. Don't take much to not get good contact.
As for the Husky 4500. Go for it. Go big or go home. "bouncey:

Thanks for all the advice. I ordered the 4500 w/remote today and had it shipped directly to the dealer. He couldn't get one quick enough. Supposed to pick up the camper on Friday after the dealer agreed to my PDI.

The remote is so worth it!
