Converter replacement options

Hello
I have a 2015 Fuzion and the converter is going bad. It intermittently emits an ear piercing wine in the 12100 MHz range right under the kitchen sink. Occasionally all electric items in the RV reboot as well. It about drives me and my daughter out of the trailer. My wife on the other hand is immune to the noise from her younger music days. The dealer is going to install a replacement but I was wondering if I should go for a replacement converter/inverter to allow for some 110v items to be run off the Batt when not running the generator.

I am looking at the AIMS Power (PICOGLF30W12V120V) 3000W 12V Pure Sine Inverter Charger, the The Freedom HF Inverter/Charger or the Freedom 458 systems from xantrex.

Hi,

Do you do allot of dry camping?

That would be the only advantage I see to having the inverter.

Also, be aware of the increased drain on the battery while using AC through the Inverter.

Usually a few times a year. Would be nice to have the ac to watch TV at night especially if it is any better than the factory converter

3000 is a lot and costly. We have a 1000 and 4 batteries along with solar to charge all, and it works for the TV which my wife needs to have in the evening. But keep in mind you don't really need to upgrade the converter, especially if you are not into shore power, but your going to have to deal with solar, and more batteries if your going to a 3000w inverter

Unless you have a generator to charge the batteries the next day of course.

We do have a generator but on days /nights where we are dry camping it would be nice to just run the TV for an hour or 2 without the generator. My TV draws about an amp and the battery in the rig is a deep cycle with 140 reserve amp Capacity.. BTW my dealer spoke with Keystone and the factory is sending out a replacement converter for the one going bad. I think I am also going to go with the 1800 watt Freedom HF inverter/charger.

1800 should do you for what you are saying just fine, but 140 amp is really not a lot. That is where your 6v batteries come in to play, my two have 230amp for 12v. I have a formula for figuring that out somewhere, I'll try to find that for you, but none the less for the short time your talking you should be fine. I only have 1000w and my wife watches until she falls asleep, then I reach over and turn it off :), at sometime during the early morning. Then by late morning the next day my batteries are right back up again - solar.
