Slideout Support

I have my camper on a permanent site and was re-leveling it this spring.
I thought it would be a good idea to put a support under the slideout. So I put a block and threaded jack under it with just a little tension.
A guy came up to me today and said a guy from Keystone told him not to put any support under the slideout as it could damage the slide. They are designed to be out in a free state and any up pressure could bend the shaft.
Does this sound accurate?
Should I remove the support before I do damage?

Slide out supports are not needed IMO. They are designed to be used without any added support, and any settling of the trailer can cause damage. I wouldn't use them.

I would not. If you lose any air in either tire the trailer will settle and the slide will not thus causing damage. Could cause it to be unable to close. The only slides that need support are park models where you have to push the slide into place.

Against all advice, I use supports under our very long LR/dinette slide. This is not so much as a support but as a device to lessen the 5th wheel jiggle while we are at our summer seasonal CG. When we travel, those supports stay home. The other 3 slides are self standing with no supports. If you do use them, just understand that there are potential dangers involved. As far as a tire suddenly deflating on ours, I have the front landing gear, a set of BAL manual scissors jacks under the frame kick down (at approximately the entry door) and the rear jacks so very little chance of a sideways 'lurch'.

Just as a note and somewhat off the OPs subject - I don't use hollow core concrete blocks ever and something I'm starting to see more of lately with seasonal site campers.
