Hey all,
As I stated in my intro, I currently tow my Raptor using a gooseneck adaptor. My wife and I want to upgrade to a newer model, and I would like to continue using a gooseneck. The sales manager at CW said doing so would void the warranty on the frame of a new Raptor. Has anyone heard this before? I have been towing my current Raptor for four years with no problems. Thanks.

John

As a retired Service Manager, I would check with Raptor directly. It is easy for someone to say a modification will "void" a portion of the warranty than for them to truly check it out.

Im afraid he is correct, but there is a solution, Reese makes a Goose neck adapter pin box that is approved by Lippert and will not void your warranty. I was going to get one, but they don't make one for my particular frame(as of yet).

Here's a link to one.....

The Reese brand is the only goose neck adaptor that is approved by lippert that I know of. We have installed a few, and they are very nice but HEAVY.

Yes - at one time, there was a section in the Owners Manual which addressed modifications & etc.
Here's a copy of the current manual from the Keystone site:

It is also approved by Keystone....made sure of it before I went and bought one. There are two versions availible now, a 16K and a 20K. With most Raptor GVWR's I am sure you will be looking at the 20K. I bought mine from CAR-ID, cheapest by around $80 bucks and it was delivered in 2 days.

If you want to stay with the ball hitch, go with an Andersen Ultimate Gooseneck 24,000# hitch. This would be the most simple and cost effective option, IMO.

Also if your warranty does go void because of any damages the anderson unit causes, anderson will warranty the damages! They will cover up to 5 million dollars.......

The dealership we bought ours from told me the same thing. I wanted to change mine but changed my mind. If you think about it the good neck adapter does put a lot more stress on the pinbox mount.

Are you dead set on using a Goose Ball... Do you have a B&W Flip Over Ball and not wanting Rails installed. B&W makes the companion 5th wheel hitch that mounts in the goose neck hole that is very nice.

You could buy the Andersen gooseneck hitch from one of our members who has one for sale for $250. Its a 24,000# hitch and it won't void your warranty.
