My wife a a few friends have the Kentucky derby on our bucket list. It's been decided that 2016 is the year we are going to make it. We will be taking the trailer down, picking up friends from California at an airport at some point and plan on experiencing the derby. It's all in the early planning stage. One couple will be tenting it, I know it's waaay in the future but we are starting to plan now. Anyone have tips or state park or private campgrounds to suggest? We are planning on at least a week, if not more. Being from Maryland, we've been to the Preakness in Baltimore and had a blast. Baltimores track is pretty run down but the party was an experience. Any points of interest or campground suggestions please. 2017 may bring us the Belmont, who knows.

Louisville South KOA. :) Nice, clean rest rooms/showers. Typical kid type of place.

Louisville North KOA: :(NO :eek:NO :banghead:NO. Very bad location. Homeless shelter next door. Bad part of town.

There are others near the track, downtown. Never been there.
