Last year some of us followed the Hays Eagle nest in Pittsburgh. The nest made FOX news due to the Eagle staying on the nest as snow fell up to its head during this weeks snowfall. The link to that video and the PA Game Commission link are below.

Did not post this year, was not sure of interest :banghead:. Only 2 eggs this year think estimated hatch date around March 16 for first egg. If you want to catch up, on the main page of www.pixcontroller.com/eagles just below the live stream is the archive section. Have to check out video clip where Mom was totally buried in snow then wakes up. You will also notice that DAD has OSD (obsessive stick disorder) ENJOY "bouncey:

saw this online the other night.
Those birds just sat there through the snowstorm and guarded those eggs. Pretty cool to see.
This is a cool site to visit.

Our other nest in PA that I am aware of is in Hanover PA. Also 2 eggs laid earlier than those in Pittsburg. Should be close on these.

I have a pic on my Fb page from a local news station. It was taken at the south pier, Presque Isle Bay, of a tree with 8 Eagles sitting in it. I think they are all looking for open water to fish.

They have really made a come back here in the west. As someone who is outdoors a lot. the first I got to see, I was around 28, now 58 and see them on a regular bases. I have handled adult birds both live and dead while working. If you get close to be able to compare your fingers in size to their legs and talons they are about the size of my fingers. The crimes against them have now dropped from a felony to misdemeanor since they became de listed as endangered. One case of illegal killing I had involved a man who shot the bird since it was attacking his pet ducks. The feds refused to charge him for the killing and illegal firearm possession, he did get deported.(fed law illegal aliens cannot have firearms) I was upset because I could have taken the case thru state court but, turned it all over to the feds as they wanted.

They are starting to make a come back in PA. Not sure of the numbers but recall someone saying that in the entire state of PA the total number of nests were around twenty where as now its over two hundred. The big thing in Pittsburgh is the fact this one nest is very close to downtown. They have a tendency to build a nest in an area where they have adequate supply of food especially fish. Pittsburgh has come a long way since the steel mill days and dirty rivers. Here may be an example of the abundance of food.
