How is the mileage with a 5er compared with a tt.

I got about 10 mpg in my F250 pulling the 5th wheel (35 feet) and while I haven't pulled a travel trailer I pulled an enclosed trailer and got the same, 10mpg. The enclosed trailer weighed way less but was just tall and wide, custom built, and not aerodynamic at all. I have a really small motorcycle trailer, 6x10, V-nose and only get 14 at most pulling that little thing.

Oh, by the way congratulations on your new trailer! I bet you'll love it, the 5th wheels are nice. We looked at everything when we bought our toy hauler and glad we went with a 5th wheel.

I can relate to this post. TT we got 9.5 average MPG.
327RES I get 10.5average MPG. so the 5er is helping me get 1 MPG better mileage.
327RES is a great floorplan.

I asked a factory rep this question and he contacted his drivers that transport them around the country and the answer was fifth wheels consistently got about 1-2 mpg better than a tt. Exception was large toy haulers vs tt which was about 0.5 to 1 better

Recently hauled mine from Ottawa to St George S.C. via New York on 81 and averaged 12 miles to the gallon.

I also saw about a 1mpg gain over our TT. I was very surprised as the 5er is 3500lbs heavier, and 8' longer.

I get about the same mileage as before with the tt but the fiver weighs about 2 1/2 times as much.

USG or Imp Gal. ?? Hand calculated or just going by computer readout?

Our 325SRX is about 8 feet longer and 4000 lbs heavier, as well as over 2 feet taller than the last TT we had. Fuel mileage with same truck over same roads (Florida and return) is about 1-1.5mpg better. The toyhaulers are slightly less aerodynamic because of the very tall REAR . The same approx size 5th wheels that are not TH are in the range of 2' lower at the REAR where the drag is created.

I get about a mile to the gallon better and it is 8 feet longer and 2500 pounds heavier than the travel trailer I pulled. I think it is because it sits closer to the truck where the where the truck breaks the wind for the trailer and doesn't have a chance to come back down like in a travel trailer.

Our experience is the 5ver is slightly better, and our previous TT was only a 21 ft model, versus the 291RLS. Plus, I feel it tows easier.

On a long trip this past season, we ran into strong winds and out of group, we had the least issues, over a motorhome and a 20 ft TT. But the mpg did really suffer with the wind.

We also love our 327 RES.... Mileage is between 9.5 to 10.5 MPG, which seems to compare to most larger rig stat's. Our TV is a 2014 F250 Super Duty, 6.2 ltr., 6 spd, 4.30 ratio. Looking forward to another season in the sun. GPG

I also bought a 327RES a couple of months ago. While not scientific.... I noticed about a mile to a mile and a half better mpg when bringing it home. I got 8.5mpg with my Crossroads sunset trail. I have a GMC Sierra 6.0 liter gas 2500. Anxious to see if that initial mileage holds on trips this summer.
