RV noob family just pulled the trigger on an Outback 324CG!

My wife and I have always wanted an RV of some sort. Looked at so many our heads were spinning. Fell in love with the new floor plan Outback toy hauler 324CG. 2 Golden Retrievers 100+ lbs. each and two kids. I am fairly handy and expect issues. Have read some horror stories. :eek: Any advice for a total newb would be appreciated. Taking delivery 2/16ish.:)

Hello and welcome -
There is a Pre-Delivery Inspection checklist here on the forum that you can download, print and take with you during the walk through. I think you might find this checklist useful during this important stage of beginning RVing.

Take your time during the PDI, ask lots of questions and don't be rushed through this process. Take a notepad and pencil with you and write down as much as you can. It can be overwhelming and by the time you get home you may have forgotten a number of things.

Can't agree more than what has been already stated. If nothing else, that PDI check list will give you a better understanding of all the things needing attention and the terms used.

Our best experience during the purchase of our 5ver was the PDI because of the Tech that did it. He was in no rush and made sure we understood things. He even gave us his business card if we needed to ask anything after delivery, which we have done. He even commented on the check list we had and thought it was a great idea that every buyer should use.

Congratulations! I bought my first RV about three years ago and the family loves it. Two dogs, two kids that are 10 & 13. My first time out I walked over to the park host and asked him some questions and I told him I was a total newby and it was my first time out. He came down to my campsite and literally walked me through everything. He showed me how to hookup sewer hoses, dump the tanks, all kinds of little suggestions from his years of experience. We became friends though he lives in Minnesota but he and his wife travel south for the winters. I've found people with a lot of RV experience love to teach others, just ask. I bought used also so I was really clueless.

Can't agree more with what's been said above. When we picked up our 2014 Cougar High Country I took the PDI list from this site. My wife took notes in a binder for the trailer while I used a handycam to video. If I have a question I look at the notes first. If what I'm looking for isn't there I pull out the video. Be sure they cover how to retract slides and stabilizers if you lose power or they quit working.

Beautiful rig sir. I am in the middle of trading in my 2009 outback in on a Montana. our outback has been a real joy with very minimal issues all of which I was able to fix myself. good luck and enjoy.

Did the PDI with no issues. Had them deliver it instead of making another trip. Getting used to all the features. Had it a week and spent 3 nights in it during this recent cold snap. Wonderfully comfortable inside. Slept like a baby. Had an issue with the bedroom slide. They didn't zip tie the motor wires tight enough. Snagged on the ceiling and pulled the wire from the wire nut. Found it, fixed it. No big deal. Loving this thing! :)
