I am planning to replace our 5th wheel hitch because the current one is a very heavy 18k slider by Hdden Hitch. The best deal that I can find is on a Curt 16K. Is anybody familiar with this brand? Thanks...Al

Yes, I have this hitch with the manual slider. Works very well. No problems. I use one of those $12 teflon type grease plates between the 5er and hitch. No muss, no fuss; just fun !

I pull a 2011 Outback Sydney 36 ft 5er with the tow vehicle being a 2008 Dodge Quad Cab, short bed; 2500 series turbo diesel. You really never need the slide position unless you put yourself into a crazy situation inadvertantly.... (never happened to me yet). :D The new style RV front cap allows for worry free turns with the short bed truck.

If you "desire" putting the hitch into manuver position when backing into a site, it is not difficult. I am no longer "Hercules".... age 68; 5'10; 175lbs : )
I do ride Harley's at outrageous speeds and my nickname is "Taz" ;) So, I ain't dead yet !! :D

I have the Curt 16 k with slider also. Although heavy, guessing around 200 pounds, it is a quality product. I also use the teflon disc. I like the tube style of slide it has. Mine is an E5.

I have the Curt slider hitch, my dealer recommended this hitch when I recently purchased a Cougar 5th wheel. I have a short bed chevy P/U and the hitch works great. I only occasionally use the slide because of the configuration of the front cap on the Cougar.
I too use the teflon plate between the hitch and pin. The hitch is somewhat heavy but it works great.

I have the Curt 16K Non slider and love it. I had the Reese brand before. the Curt is much easier to operate. I along with all the others have the teflon ring.

The only reason I was considering the Curt 16K hitch was for the weight difference between it and my current 18K slider hitch (by hidden hitch). .Current hitch is very heavy. Curt non slider without rails weighs about 100 lbs . I have not needed a slider for years and am towing with a Dodge short box.

I use a 20 k slider, overkill and heavy, but with my 2 kids riding 24 inches in front of the pin better to be safe.
