My wife and I finally narrowed our truck search and purchased a 2012 GMC Sierra Dually. Our 3/4 ton Silverado was a great truck and I'll miss it. But it wasn't enough to handle our 5th wheel. Especially on long trips. It'd wear your out. So we are excited to start our camping season and test out the new truck. Have to purchase a gooseneck hitch. This truck had nothing in the bed.

Congrats on your new to you truck. Does your fiver have a goose neck box or a traditional kingpin?

Congratulations on the new truck. I know some people do use a gooseneck hitch to pull a fifth wheel rig, but before you do, research the the additional stresses placed on the frame of the rig by using the gooseneck. There is quite a bit of additional leverage applied to the frame by having the pivot point so far away compared to a conventional fifth wheel hitch, which could cause frame damage within the trailer. Just something to consider.

Contratulation also on the almost new truck. That should do you very well with your 5ver.
From the looks of things you might be springing for an extension of the width of your driveway also in the future. :D

Thanks! I use a reese Goosebox in place of the 5er pin box. Not the traditional gooseneck adapter. I'm planning on a B&W gooseneck hitch this time around. The last truck had a flip over gooseneck ball. It worked but wasn't as nice.
Gmapatime, you are exactly right lol. My wife and I were talking about that the first time we pulled in the drive way. Need about 3ft more concrete.

You will love that truck. Yes I miss the looks of my 2500, but I love the towing with my 3500.
