What camping was this?
It is a little known campground around the start of the Cabot Trail called joyful journeys. It is 95% seasonal but there are some three way sites for over nighters. These sites right on the beach are two way but they have a dumping station.

Keywestparrothead, this is quite the coincidence: Here is a photo that we took today. It is from the ground floor in the lighthouse at Hunting Island State Park just outside of Beaufort, SC. We are in town for a funeral (very old woman, no tears, please) and couldn't pass up the very large lighthouse. Yes Brenda and I climbed 166 steps to the very top. And to those of you within striking distance, this is a most beautiful park.

Mostly take your time and enjoy the view. I was concerned about fuel so I made sure I had a full tank before starting but there were a couple of places along the way to get fuel.
Also typical of that area, it is a few thousand feet in elevation which I enjoy. That previous photo was taken at about 6,000 feet. The one below is at 4,600 feet.

When we lived in Denver, we camped at Pearl Lake State Park many times. That was back in the early 70's. At that time the campground was nestled among a group of tall virgin fir trees and the lake was so clear you could see the bottom in 50' of water. Across the highway and just a bit further north was a "new reservoir" called Steamboat Lake. There was no campground at the time and if you wanted, you just set up camp at most any level spot along the shoreline. Steamboat Lake had only been there for a few years. Both were excellent places to camp and to get away from the craziness of Denver. The town of Steamboat Springs, back then, had only 2 or 3 ski runs and no "major" resorts. It was a sleepy little town where everyone gathered at the local bar at night to "pass the bull". If you didn't wear a leather vest and a Stetson, you felt out of place. My how times have changed.....
We bought some land further north from Pearl Lake back then and haven't even seen it in the past 35 years or so. We plan to swing through the area this summer. I hear that things have changed so much we won't recognize anything. For sure, gone are the leather vests, Stetson hats and unfortunately, from your picture, those big fir trees from Pearl Lake :(

Wow...would love to have seen it then.
It's definitely a LOT different now, both in the town and in the campgrounds. Steamboat Lake State Park is a big, popular park and totally full when we were there. Pearl Lake was more like a National Forest Service campground, quaint and quiet. It's probably one of our favorite places we've ever camped.
Yes, they have taken out many, many trees to try to combat bark beetle, especially in the upper loop. But quite a lot remain, especially on the lower loop and around the lake.
Although it sounds like it's changed, the area is still breathtakingly beautiful. Like something out of a postcard. You're very lucky to have land there.

Yes it was. There were 4 or 5 buddy sites around the CG. I think ours was the nicest though lots of space and that big fireplace was cool, no smokey campfire.

Camping at 10,000 feet! We really like this little campground just outside historic Cripple Creek, Colorado. Just grassy spots, and only elec available, but water and a dump station are near by. Each spot has a fire pit and picnic table. Little stream runs through the middle. Usually have to use the heater year round, but otherwise really comfortable. Close to gambling, fishing, hiking, and even a theater.

That pinpoint of light in the middle actually a cars headlights as it drives down the access road from the top. You could watch them as they made their way down.
We love Acadia, and try to get there at least once a year.
This was taken in Bandon, OR. We stayed at so many beautiful places along the west coast!

Is that at Bullards Beach? We stay there every year. I have my spot reserved for this year. Love Bandon. The beach is great at Bullards or in town for tide pools and crabs at Tony's Crab Shack.

If you were at a state park it was probably Alfred A Loeb. Yeah, most of the little roads that lead down to the bar are not suitable for RVs.

Our trailer is safely tucked away until spring, but last week we took the snowmobiles to the "top of Michigan" to "check on" one of our favorite camping spots. Here is a picture of the lake from one of the Porcupine Mountain overlooks. The campground is tucked away in the pines, unable to be seen in this picture. Can't wait till spring to put the boat on the lake and start catching walleye once again. Having the Cougar to return to is "icing on the cake"....
The picture of us on snowmobiles is the only way to get anywhere close to the lake this time of year.

We are the same. Waiting for spring. Our first trip of the year is in March to Zion National Park. Have gone for the last 3 years as I-15 is usually passable and the park is nice then. The first year we had to break up an ice pile that had slid off the Laredo front and ice dripped for two days off the roof. Don't know how it will be this year. Then we have two months already scheduled on the Oregon coast as the first trip after retirement. Yahoo :bdance:

Last summer we did an East Coast trip to beautiful Cape Breton Island. We stayed at Cheticamp Campground on the west coast then over to Broad Cove Campground on the east coast, then finally to Battery Park in St Peter's.
Our campsite at Battery Park over looked St Peter’s Canal and the lock system that allows vessels to sail between Bras d' Or Lake and the Atlantic Ocean.
Our 2010 F150 is still hauling strong and the Cougar 28rbs is still in one piece :) after now going from Coast(Tofino, BC) to Coast(Cape Breton, NS)

We camped at a park on the side of Lake Ontario many many years ago. It looks like it's still just as beautiful.

Big Bend National Park - Government Springs
My Favorite place on the planet, so peaceful and quite.
We were by the trailer, in the dark, looking at the stars and my friend's wife said "what's that rattle?"
Turned on the flashlight and found this guy had come for a visit (turned out to be a Mojave rattlesnake), first rattle snake I have ever seen and we have been going since 1982, Next time I will be taking a judge with me.

We also visited the Big Bend Ranch State Park... I'll get some pics from the wife's phone and post them.

Yikes! From what I remember from the days of camping in the California deserts, the Mojave Green is one of the deadliest. Definitely bring the Judge next time!

We sure enjoyed staying at Orange Grove RV Resort in Bakersfield, CA. How fun to be able to walk right out and pick an orange for breakfast, lunch, dinner and a snack in between! :D We stayed here November & December 2015. The temperatures were great this time of year.

We looked up what kind of snake it was, after we dispatched him.
Things could have turned out a lot worse, the closest hospital was 80+ miles away.

That orange grove campground looks great. Thanks for posting.

Camped Vererans Weekend at Normandy Farms in Massachusetts. Just arrrived before sunset. It was a great weekend! We went to the dog park many times, went for a hike, had friends visit for their birthday, went for a run in the mornings, cooked some garlicky chicken for dinner, took a ride to explore etc..
