new to having a generator. does anyone leave it running while on the road? pro's and con's and what would be the benefit?

I suppose you could run the A/C to cool the trailer, but other than that, the batteries will charge from the TV.

In my last class A we ran the generator all the time when driving

Dont see much point. Propane to run the fridge and as Chuckster 57 stated the TV will charge the batteries. I can see it in an A class since you are inside your unit going down the road. Makes it quite handy but not so much when you are pulling an empty trailer.

I assume to run the roof A/C units? Or maybe the TV assuming you had an "in motion" dish on the roof.

Down here its not a bad idea in summer to run it to cool the unit off before you get to where you want to go.

Temperatures are monitored in the Raptor, when they get too high the generator is turned on along with the AC. Have been running the generator as needed while on the road for the last few years with no issues.

So, uh, who is going to be watching that TV while going down the road?
Oh, Direct TV has "Dog TV" as a premium channel.
Ahem.

With some class A motor homes there are multiple TV's. Just delivered one on Tuesday. Inverter on, in motion activated and the kids can watch sponge Bob.

I have a small dorm style fridge in the garage for a beverage cooler. If we are driving all day in the summer heat, I'll start the generator about an hour or two before we land for the night to cool off yhe trailer and chill my beverages.
