I've done some searching but I'm looking for a nice campground that would be in the 5-6 hour drive from the area of NE Georgia? We prefer of course a full hook up site with some room too stretch out, I hate those tight camp site's where you can barely back in and your on top of your neighbor's.

I've seen some stuff in the Tennessee around like Pigeon Forge area, but looking for input, so if anyone knows of a great spot please tell me about it all"bouncey:

Fall Creek Falls SP campground is just OK - most of the sites have been in place for years and wear and tear is evident.
Try Cumberland Mountain State Park near Crossville - nicer spaces (stay in areas 2,3 and 5 - area 1 and 4 are older). Electrical hookups were recently upgraded to 50 amp.
You can look up sites in TN. State Parks by going to the website - tnstateparks.com - there should be photos of each site. Also, keep in mind - TN went to a reservation system in the parks and you may or may not be lucky enough to get a site upon arrival if you just appear.
As far as Pigeon Forge - lots of privately operated parks - most are close to all the "action" and most spaces are on top of each other. The best (?) way to get there is I-40 to Highway 66 and in to Pigeon Forge - I say "best" tongue in cheek, as weekend traffic WILL be absolutely insane. DO NOT attempt to get there from Townsend TN - Wears Valley Road has a couple of really tight hairpin curves and is narrow - Little River Road through GSMNP is worse to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge.
There are some nice parks in Townsend (the quiet side of the park) - we stay at Tremont - sites are semi-spacious with full hookups and just outside of GSMNP. You can still make a day trip to Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg from there.
Hope this helps.

You would probably like James Island County Park outside of Charleston. As I recall it is about 600 acres. Generally large level sites that only the Government can afford with 50 amp service, good Wi-Fi, huge dog park, etc. Do make reservations as it is popular durring their Holiday Festival of Lights. We've stayed there on numerous occasions and they do a very nice job.

If you find yourself near Winston-Salem N.C. this is a great one:
http://www.forsyth.cc/parks/tanglewood/
Sites are all new. Lot & lots of room. However some are not very level. They told me that the county would not let them change elevations.

This is a very nice place. Owners live onsite. My sister & husband stay here when visiting us during their seasonal trip from FL back to MI.
http://www.springlakervtn.com/

3.7 miles north of I-40 on Exit 322.
Full hookups, 30/50 Amp, Big Rigs, some pull through sites.
I would consider this a quiet, adult type of location but there are family activities near by also.

Crossville is the Golf Capitol of TN
1-1/2 hrs to Sevierville/Gatlinburg/Dollywood
1-1/2 hrs to Chattanooga
1 hr to Knoxville
2 hrs to Nashville

We are staying at Rippling Waters on 66 about 5 miles off I-40 in Sevierville. Large campground mostly empty now. Sites are not huge but big enough. Our 50 amp site backs up to the Little Pigeon River. About 16-20 cable channels and wifi that works most of the time. $31.00 per night with GS discount. At the local Walmart, you can catch a shuttle to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinberg. We are headed East so will cut back to I-40 when we leave. I have been down the road thru Gatlinberg and would not try it with fifth wheel.

Take a look at Smokey Mountain Premier RV Resort. They are outside of Gatlinburg away from the traffic. It close enough you can get to all of the attractions. Also easy to get to. Without a doubt the best, most friendly owners you will find anywhere.

We often travel up into the Smokey Mountains. We have stayed at a number of RV parks up there but the Flaming Arrow CG is our favorite. It’s kept very clean and the grass was plush everywhere. It’s very quiet there and our site (16) was nice and large and well shaded. We had a 50 amp FHU site which included CATV and WiFi. There is no tax for NC campgrounds so what you are quoted is what you will pay. There is a full size Food Lion about a mile down the road and a mile further on is the Cherokee Casino (Harrah’s). It’s a work in progress and getting very large. To get to Gatlinburg or Pidgin Forge from the CG will be thru the Great Smokey Mountain NP. Very scenic winding roads mostly at 45 MPH. All the highways up and back are currently maintenance free.

The CG is laid out in a semi circle so there are very few pull-thru sites. However, most sites are large and very easy to get into. In the CG reference below you can find all the information about the CG and the area in general.

All are Pet Friendly, most have Full Hookups.

Carolinas has a Campground in the Park!! Never stayed there, my PTSD prohibits that, for now.

Douglas Headwater in Sevierville TN? If so be aware that it is a TVA CG and has W/E and a dump station. It is not FHU but is quite nice. It is a beautiful setting right next to the dam. You are in for 4 very peaceful days.

I don't think any of the campgrounds inside the park have hook ups. Some have 5 amp hook ups for those needing medical devices, CPAP, etc.
I've been wrong before though.

That's what I found when looking at options in the mountains. I am not at Boondock level yet so I just looked at other options.
Last night I found out Douglas headwaters has no alcohol on site, grrrr , Not that I'm an Alcoholic, but I like some adult beverages throughout the day / night after driving is done for the day.
Now looking at Yarberry.

No one is going to say a thing about a discrete glass of wine or a beer at Douglas Headwaters as long as you don't get out of hand drunk. That is all that they care about is people getting out of hand partying and I can't blame them on that. Be discrete and keep it at your site and out of sight. You will be fine. Enjoy it there, it really is quite nice and not all that far removed from town if you care to venture out.
