Ok got a Copper Canyon and the deadbolt is stuck in the locked position. The key won't go all the way in either, I've soaked the deadbolt in wd-40, tried pushing on the door, everything I can think of. There is no other access point to the inside besides breaking out a window and that's not a option. Thought about pulling it to the dealership but I have a t.v. set up in the bedroom. I have a buddy coming over with a locksmith set to try and pick it open, my question is if he can't get it open could I drill out the deadbolt and open it that way? I would rather replace a $30 lock then a $100 window or several $100 t.v.

Well you can drill out the deadbolt and get all the tumblers out then use a flathead screw driver and open the deadbolt.

I saw your first post, but it was a while after you posted it. So I was waiting to see the outcome. I figured you would have to drill out the tumbler. Did you by chance insert the key, set the deadbolt and pull the key out in the horizontal position rather than turning back to vertical?

FIC has a recall on a series of locks that will do what your lock did I believe, just search for "lock recall". You may be eligible for new lock at no cost.

When mine quit turning I had jammed the key in and broke off the end. Since I have 2 doors I used the other door to get into the trailer and unscrewed the whole lock work. I used a drill to drill out the cylinder and key. It was not difficult. If the lock is drilled while the door is on the trailer, do not put much weight into the drill, you will bent the door or break it. Let the drill bit do the work, not your arm. My door had a recalled lock. Phoning them did not work. They have a special web site request for recalled locks that worked for me in about 1 week. I phoned them and 5 months passed without keys. New locks took about 1 minute to install.
